130x clackety clackety drive train

guys,

my 130x has developted a bit of a clackety drive train. You can hear it when you spin the head with the heli switched off, and it doesnt sound as smooth in the air as it did for the first few flights.

Its not bearings as ive just changed them all for the rc hero ones

It flies fine it seems... I dont have any issues!

Any ides?

Most likely gear wear IMO.... Maybe even missing a tooth somewhere.

Have a close look at all gears and try a little light lube on them.

I checked one over for a friend yesterday, the torque 'tube' was protruding from the rear gear far enough to have scored a line around the tail shaft.

It explained the vibes he was seeing and at least we spotted it before something worse happened.

Tried a little lube, doesnt seem to make a difference... Maybe im just worried about nothing :P

Mark, I took all mine apart today - I dont see how that could have happened?

My torque tube wont get anywhere near the main shaft unless its not poked through the rear gear! Maybe the tail booms are not all the same length?

I was talking about the tail shaft not the main shaft

You could feel something was wrong when rotating the head, but the problem itself was at the tail end. May not be related to your problem, but it is one to watch out for.

i think the TT is handed, its got a slightly longer flat on one end. and some have been known to be fitted back to front

i think most 130's are a bit clackety in the gears dept, but do run amazingly free.

Mine's the same, I tried to relieve the TT somewhat and it made a small difference to the notchy feel but not much odds to the noise.
