  • CHECK YOURS! Beam Seesaw bolt

I totaly forgot about this issue and neglected to check mine. I had seen it mentioned on other forums where with a high head speed some people had seen one of the screws which hold in the seesaw work loose.

I neglected to check mine and suffered a full positive pitch inverted crash last weekend. I was puzzled at the loss of control when I had flipped over, this screw had worked loose and fowled the seesaw mixing arm resulting in loss of control of the pitch.

Quite a big crash resulted, so please check yours to see that it is still screwed in.

If you want to be extra sure I would suggest using red loktite (carefully) in that area.

Thansk for letting us know Jason.

H Jason, sorry to hear about the crash and hope you've managed to get your Beam airworthy again.

I read about this issue before I started my build so even though this part was pre-assembled on my kit I still removed both bolts to check for loctite. I was was expecting them to come out easily and that there would be no threadlock, but they were both stubborn to remove and were covered with the stuff. I guess you must have been unlucky and there was no threadlock applied at the factory to yours.

Ahh, I've the replies must have arrived when I was typing. So you did apply loctite then. I hope I did both sides!

It was one of the reports sent back to the factory ages ago, I’ve always made a point of saying to people to check, as it's part of the preassemble section.
The last 50 or more kits everyone that I have emailed or spoken too has said that it was locktite correct.
Yours is from the 1st batch over and one of the 1st so was never told lol..

No worries Rob - like I said, I had seen the note, and I even think I might have taken them out to locktite, I suspect it was in the middle / towards the end of a bottle of red wine, hence I did one side and not the other

I see your problem here, you drank the loctite and used the red wine on the bolts
