Re: Fuel magnet degradation
I believe that is true yes! My friend left his dry all the time and one day he was flying and his engine leaned up loads and blew!! What had happened was the fuel magnet had broken down and blocked his filter restricting fuel flow causing the engine to lean up!! This was after owning the fuel magnet for about 3 months!! Another friend uses them and has done for years with no issues BUT always leaves enough fuel in the tank to cover the fuel magnet!!

There are many rumours and thought on this, some say do! Some say don't!, Personally I have had good results with either half filling the tank or completely filling the tank and expelling the exhaust gasses in the tank from the exhaust, this helps extend the life of the foam fuel magnet. Thanks!

What are fuel magnets for?
just made me think about the 5 I have on the diesel line in the range rover. I know it's different as the magnets are meant to improve economy of fuel and are external but being all electric I'm curious as to the purpose.1x EGS, TREX 450 PRO DFC & 130X. DX9 radio. totally different mate!
its just a bit of foam really, it stops fuel starvation - the idea being that if the pickup is not in the fuel, theres enough soaked into the foam to "tide you over" until it touches fuel again.
I heard those magnets on cars do nothing?NONE OF THE BELOW HELI'S ARE OWNED BY ME ANY MORE

Thanks.
I'm told that the magnets can improve efficiency but I really can't say.
I know we have them for the gas pipes on boilers too. Meant to line up the fuel in such a way as to improve efficiency.
I get 25.4 mpg using cruise control set at 79 mph and 27mpg without cruise?
18 mpg in town lol but I knew that would be the case.
It's also remapped for performance.1x EGS, TREX 450 PRO DFC & 130X. DX9 radio. No idea what i am doing trying to fly

Re: Fuel magnet degradation
Im running them in 2 heli one pumped engine and the other muffler pressure.i just refuel after each flight and ive had no problems with either . But if you let them dry out they will break up and the exhaust gases will ruin them as well just fill the tank up after you fly snd all is goodLast edited by vanman; 10-01-2013, 10:21 AM.360 RC Technologys (Align )

I'm using the Lynx magnets in both my nitros. I keep the tank totally full and nip off the exhaust line. I have seen them fall to pieces in heli's that have been left with a dry tank in storage.SAB Goblin 700 Beastx

Fuel magnet degradation
Just remove the foam, slide a small stainless nut on, replace foam. Works a charmOriginally posted by waveydavey View PostAnyone using the Lynx MOAS had any problems with them, they seem a bit light when in the tank. I went for them because of the problems I'd read about with the OMI type then read about some issues with the Lynx ones
