Yeah I do have it on 6s at the moment and many people have told me I dont need it. I did have it on 4s and it wouldnt do the business but I think the cells were crap. At the time it wouldnt start I had some spare 450 batteries so just rigged up a couple of 2200s in series and it works great!

Might look at changing to something else in future though, one of the guys at a club I went to thought my engine had no compression it was turning over so fast

Pity you can't fit a hex coupler which has two grub screws going to flats on the shaft spaced at 90° to each other!!

That concerns me. There is a debate as to whether or not to leave the clutch sprag more or less dry. I have heard of peeps lubricating them and then there is no grip.

Ive just pulled it all out and put the engine in a vice and run it all up as itd be in the heli, minus the heli. The shaft is spinning inside the 1 way, so looks like a faulty clutch.
Is this the same type of thing as the Raptors?? I was going to ask if you tried the shaft on the old clutch.

yeah the old clutch is fine... Interesting what you say about the grease though, ive just cleaned as much of the grease off as I can. It still slips, but its better than it was!

ive just put the old align clutch on there too to test, and that works perfectly. Ill just wait until I get the new one and not grease it.

IS anyone else using the quick UK Clutch on the 700N DFC? Has the size of the starter shaft changed at all?

Just looking, dont think it has:

              Clutch/Start Shaft Set HN7036 - Align T-Rex Spares align trex 700N - ALIGN-TREX.co.uk

              The 700N DFC Manual says 12 x 5 x 82, same as above.

you have to be careful using too much grease in the OWB, if you use too much then the rollers can't get out of the slots in the OWB so it slips, too little and it wreaks the bearings.

I use this and haven't had any problems so far

I've just bought the same and in the process of putting it all back together. The shaft set looks the same and goes together fine. Interestingly the gap between the clutch liner and Quick UK clutch was less than the original. We (boys in our club) felt that it would probably work better. The Quick UK clutch also looks better designed.

Unfortunately won't have it finished off till the weekend due to commitments and we will see then.

Something I've found in general about clutches is that they do vary a lot depending on the source. I had one new one but a pattern make and it wouldn't even engage the bell.

This nitro lark seems to be a whole new learning curve for me - it's certainly throwing up some interesting challenges lol.

Now, when I take the nitro to the field, I always make sure I have an electric model or 2 just in case - so I have something to fly.

My fellow club members started and have flown nitro for years and have mostly converted over to electric. Each time I come across a problem, I get that knowing smile and the "what do you expect, it's a nitro" comment lol.

Overall, I am enjoying the "nitro" journey and I must admit it's made easier when you have electric to fall back on.

It's part of the fun until it gets tedious.

Flew the 700N DFC with the Quick UK clutch and a new (stock align) cluch bell/liner installed, today.
It worked a treat with no slipping.
