Particularly with airborne models, i guess one would not want the Tx/Rx link to vanish mid flight, and loose batteries "pop out". i have ordered some silicon shrink wrap that one applies around the pack and heat up, the whole sheet sheet contracts around the pack. i also plan to insert heat proof silicon into the pack around the batteries. Got the tip from a guy at work in the electronics lab.
I'm sorry, but this sounds like a complicated approach to a simple problem.

Wrapping the current battery carrier in heatshrink does not give you the same result as a welded pack as you are still dependent on spring pressure for the electrical contact.

A proper welded pack is not going to cost all that much and will give you a much better solution in the long-run.

There are good reasons why we use such packs and don't go trying to shrink-wrap a loose cell carrier as you seem to be proposing.

ok,you seem hard over on this and probably offering some good experience so thank you .... well I just bought these batteries so slightly gutted but suppose its a learning experience.
the JST connector, would that be a one size thing Mark or do they come in various sizes, as I suspect i would need to measure the current pack and JST connector thing??
I was going to join the batteries together and drop into the pack then wrap , like this Mark

If you have the skill to do that right then go ahead, it won't be a lot different to a welded pack. I prefer making packs like that with tabbed cells, but you can still do it with normal cells if you are careful.

If you do make the pack yourself you are still going to need a JST connector anyway. I've only got the poor photo in the manual to go by, but it does look like a standard sized 2 pin JST connector, if in doubt take it into your nearest model shop and compare. You should be able to source a JST connector on a short lead which would make things easier for you.

I'm okay with the skill - used to be an hardware engineer before "migrating" to software [the dark side!]
          thanks
I have loads of these batteries (well about 24 and counting) so would like to put them to use, LoL

This may help a member in a future search ??...

            Made the pack up,

Bought this: JST Connectors 5 Pair Battery Charger Cable with silicone wire 220mm | eBay

And this: Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories (UK Warehouse) (thanks to Nipster for the link on here)

My lipo connected to the charger fine, without any mod.

My NiMh pack just needed me to make up a JST gender bender connection which now plugs into the charger

Input power to the charger in the field is from my car battery , in the home is from a car battery charger. The accucel works fine.

            Thanks everyone
