  • Hi, 1st post, views on my kit please?

    Just been given:

    Align 600 Nitro Pro 3D
Align 3G FBL conversion Head and Gyro
    OS .50 Nitro engine
    Corona Digital Servos
Regulator and Electronic Glow Plug Switched start
Walkera Devo 10 Tx and Rx kit
    Fuel Filter

    Whats good and bad?

spent all day reading the align manuals (heli + 3G FBL kit) - the latter describes 3G setup , starting with mech setup and then onto electrical (servo limits and reverse). I dont know what is next ? can you help please - what else do i need to setup before moving onto "day 2" ...

Just been given, lucky boy I say. Not sure about the servos or the Transmitter, it looks good but there aren't many on here I would have thought that would know it. The rest a good setup by the look of it.

Pop over to HeliFreak and watch one of Finless Bobs 600 builds and hopefully that will demystify most of it.

All looks good apart from the servos - I wouldnt trust £5 servos on a heli that size but just my opinion.

I don't know much about nitros but you should check the bearings and the condition of the engine.

The servos are DS* servos. They dont have the name on but a google search revealed they are Corona? Are they no good? Should i replace? Please bear in mind I was given this equipment (from the estate of an uncle who passed away) and I know nothing of helis or RC hobby.
        thanks

I would throw away those servos.

I have used Corona products in the past, and I wouldnt again.

would these servos cause a crash because my uncle had this thing for three years, never crashed it (he was very proud of that for some reason), used to take it out at weekends for about an hour a day (sat+sun).

please bear in mind I was given this equipment, I am no expert and have never had an interest in RC helis before? I know very little so a detailed rationale for your posts would very much be appreciated

If a servo fails, its a pretty much instant crash, unless its on the throttle, and then it may be a more prolonged crash.

You need all the servos to be working to keep the heli stable, if any one fails, it can be catastrophic

The main problem with the servos are that they are Chinese copies of other manufacturers. Not saying they are bad but the chances are they aren't going to last nor be as accurate as the originals. Should you replace them, that's entirely up to you. It sounds as if it has been well looked after though.

I think in your situation you shouldn't try to go it alone with this heli.

Some good advice above, I'd certainly change the servos. There's 3 ds610 servos for sale in the for sale section below.

we are 45 mins from Blackpool if you want to come down and get someone to check over the model.

just had another look in detail....

there is an Align 3G FL760 thingy??

the two AIL and PITCH servos are not marked other than "620 HS DMC"

the elevator servo is completely unmarked

the rudder servo is Align DS620

the throttle servo is Spektrum DS621

the receiver is Spektrum AR6210 (what does the BIND/DATA connection do?)

                        what should I do?

thank you kind sir, is there anywhere nearer? that rcchoperaddict guys wants £100 for a days tuition. i dont like the fact that he is charging for his hobby. i guess some people might agree, I dont. I am pretty hot with PCs and Software but I dont charge for helping friends out or giving advice to prevent high street shops ripping people off. Your offer is most kind.

                            Hi K.
Are you new to flying?? Love the engine and the kit you have would do nicely for me subject to the suggestions already made.

                            +1 So right.
It's a worry every time I lift off. I've had two fail in the air over the years and I listen to the sound they make with bat ears.
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

When the blue light is flashing I am kidding.

Why simplify when it is so much simpler to complicate.
