  • 700n OS105 fuel leak

I have a trex 700n natrow frame version, with an OS105 fitted, i have noticed that it gets covered in a lot of fuel, far fat more than my friends 700 with .91 on. If i tip the heli about i get fuel come out of the carb? Is this normal? It seems to be the exhaust side of the heli that gets covered in fuel. This is my first nitro so not really sure whats normal and what isnt.

Do you clip the fuel pipe before it enters carb or reg?

You will always have more fuel on the exhaust side as that's where the burnt fuel gets spat out

Would it be to point of drilping down the side of the fan housing?

I clip it when i fill it up? Is that what you mean?

The 105 can suffer with occasional syphons especially when you stop the engine and the fuel continues to flow due to the pressure in the tank. This normally ends up over the fan as you say above, is it happening all the time?

What I meant was being spat out of the carb barrel on stopping the engine. What pipe on top of the tank, do you mean the pressure nipple? You should have a nipple for supply, a nipple for air whether from engine crank pressure or pipe and a rubber bung in the other hole. What is your set up like

Yes, it spits it out the carb.

Heres a pic of the setup, I cable tied the pipe at the top of the tank as it seemed to leak a bit.

Looks fine Chris, odd that you were getting fuel out of the top nipple though as the pressure should be down

I'm guessing that you do release the tank pressure after flying ?

Unless you can actually see fuel pouring out the top of the carb its more likely to be be burnt fuel that congregates in the fan shroud as the fan sucks in the smoke.

This will drip if you're on the rich side of the tune.

Yeah otherwise it would make quite a mess when i tried to refuel, not that I have done that...

Not really, when the time comes that you need to strip down the engine for whatever reason you will see a load of oil in the shroud, i used to get a few drips on 90's a few years back but never had it on my 50's unless super rich.
