  • A year of DFC

So it's approx one year of flying my DFC head. When I first saw the head and read the reviews I must say I was a bit worried, boom strikes, pitch links poping in flight, pom dampers wearing out, servo under extreme stress, the list of negatives went on.

Well I have to say on my Nitro 600DFC one year and approx 200-300 flights and none of the above apply.

I think the heli looks good with the short head, I've just finished building a 700n with the old FBL HEAD from the V2 700e and the head looks like a tall ship mast in comparison. I also really like the feel of the head in flight, very crisp and the heli feels very fast as well. The only down side I've seen is that most crashes result in 2-3 servos being stripped something with the old FB head you would normally only lose 1.

So all in all I am a fan. I am looking forward to doing back to back flights to compare the old FBL head with the new DFC.

My 700e been Dfc for 2 years had a week last August I went back to v2 and much preferred the feel and look of the Dfc
Changed the ball joints 3 times and prob due a couple now. No excessive play in them just part of normal maintenance
Really liked it on the 450 as well, couldn't tell much of a difference on that tho.

It's all been scaremongering bullshit IMO. I've never had a prob with dfc and I like the way it felt. I first put it on a 600 ESP and it totally transformed the heli and the way I felt about the heli too. Very responsive and accurate. I must have had 250 flights on that bird and when I sold it I replaced the links not cos they were worn but just because I felt I should. Sure some of the better pilots weren't keen because it felt too sharp but hey I'm not that good lol

This answers a question I asked on this forum , I bought a 450 dfc for a newbie , it had been crashed & all three cyclic servos were striped , this is a thing I had never seen before , I didn't want him to incur that kind of repair cost so I asked the question and it seems I never got the correct answer , luckily I passed the dfc on and got him a v1 pro with fly bar

            +1

I haven't done an extensive amount of flying on my Trex but this winter has been the first time I have stripped down the head since I went DFC about 18 months ago. There was absolutely no wear or play in any of it. All I ended up doing was regreasing the thrust bearings and putting it back together.

Yes it has some limitations but I think alot of whats said is just pure speculation.
