I have just been out for a sneaky flight between showers, and the heli did not feel quite right! Well here is why

Are people running the standard clutch or is there a worthwhile upgrade?

Should I replace the liner? How do I know if I need to?

I have just done some research and this liner seems to be recommended?

    http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/lynx...51-p-9331.html

If I do replace the liner, how do I get the older liner off and how do I attach the new one?

    Sorry for all the questions!

OK to remove the liner just trim it all away carefully with a sharp blade then scrape away anything thats left. Then you want to use some epoxy 5min or 30min to glue the liner in place a top tip is to wrap tape around the new clutch until it fits is snug allowing for some glue of course and this will hold the liner in place until the epoxy is set.

Not tried one in a T-rex but the quick uk ones were always good and at the start a must with the old raptors.

Exactly the same thing happened to me with my 700 except it jammed in so had to kill the engine before the blades stopped turning. Replaced with the QuickUK clutch and it's been perfect since. Made with a tighter tolerance which does mean it bites earlier but doesn't need to flex as much.

Just changed my one as the shoe broke the same as yours, I did not bother fitting a new clutch housing as it still has some life in it, the shoes are pretty cheap so I would just swap them out.....

The fix i always use is replace the liner, but as you do cut a strip of A4 paper the same size as the liner, use 5min epoxy bond the strip of paper into the bell first thin layers of bonding between then the liner as already said go once round the clutch with masking tape, put a couple of long bolts through the holes in the clutch (so you can pull it out!) push the clutch in the bell bolts/screws out! to seat the liner correctly. this will make the clutch shoes 'bite' sooner in spool up this imo over flex on the shoe with the stock liner fitting causes, sooner rather than later the clutch to throw a shoe wooo boy!

            cheers

Thanks all, I think I will change the liner while I have it all apart and go for a standard align clutch

I would check the bearings on the pinion as well as you have got it out these can be the cause of nasty vibes if they are shot, they are the same ones used on the 700 feathering shaft I think....

Not sure a new liner is going to work for me.
I have tried quick uk and the align clutch, and I got about the same amount of life out of both, the only difference I noticed was as said above the quick uk one engage earlier, and as you can buy 3 align to 1 quick uk I am putting an align back in mine

Aye if yer gonna break it you may as well do it right lol. I still recon that a quick uk clutch with proper clearance set will last longer than any align clutch but as I have never had a 600 nitro I don't know first hand. But the older raptors were famous for this.

Oh yes, it was in such a mess the shrapnel had melted the canopy, wires and plugs and all sorts.

The 600 is 0.8mm thick and the 700 is 1mm thick fitted the 700n liner to 2 600's and never had a repeat failure and no clutch drag from the thicker liner.
