I have been flying two Century Ravens with TT tails and never had a problem. I must say that on one I have extended the tail fin for long grass but that was my first nitro after flying the 600e. and i never did that mod to the 2nd one.

Nuts, that a shame what was the body mount that damaged ?
I flew both Rappy 50SE and Raven last night but very windy
but never had a gear problem with the century TT. However with all this talk I was thinking about the TT tail while flying the Raven !
I have bought the metal seasaw and mixer arms and a pack of spacers so I will get on with the 600n Pro build on my web site. Part from the blade grips it makes the top part of the head all metal
I see a few posts on the oneway bearings !!

You'll be fine on the one way as long as you have the german bearing (which has the rollers evenly spaced around its circumference) and not the japanese one (which has the rollers spaced in groups of 4).
My first kit had the japanese bearing and jammed the third flight, my other kit has been fine, touch wood, came with the german bearing.Nick

Hi Chris
Tube drives are unforgiving on any model, any one that has flown a Synergy, Vibe, Millennium, etc can vouch for the fact that if you touch the tail on the ground something has to give, you can't really make a weak link which won't risk the chance of it going in the air.
If they made the front gear metal it would then rip teeth off the lower main gear and would be much noisier (SP!) in the air.
Align have just released a set of 3 front gears in a pack for about US$25 so compared to 20 Pounds for 1 crown gear on most 90 machines it's pretty good value to say the least.
I know that's not really your point and it was more the pain of changing them but really the Sport is well just that "the Sports version" and the Pro is for Pro's so not ideal for learning on although nothing stopping guy from doing so if they want to.
The Sports belt drive will be much more duerable as you know:-)
Cheers

Align need to make the front gears metal and the one on the tailshaft metal with just the gear that comes from the TT being plastic and acting as a sacraficial gear thats easy to replace
The front ones are a pain,,,mine have been good so far but i have kept the tail rotor clear of the firm stuff

Hi Bob
I agree the Sport version is far better for learners,my Pro has been fine so far,no problems whatsoever and it flies every bit as good as i had hoped
I will use my Sport one for practice and generally abusing
and the Pro for when i am being sensible
The Sport version looks stunning and i cannot wait to get my grubby mitts on one,,its due at my LHS on Monday apparently...
I see your point about the sacraficial gear,,,i will leave the design ideas to the chaps at Align HQ,,they aint done a bad job so far
Cheers

With me I say 'I have that and fly it for best' drives the wife mad she says 'fly it or lose it' as in she will take it away and if it is an 'add on' take it for her Titan 50 ! Almost lost my 620mm SAB's that way !

Torque Tail or Belt Tail
Hi Everyone, this is my 1st post so go easy on me!
I'm about to order a 600n pro nitro, but i noticed the tail is a torque driven tail and not a belt drive?
Can anyone tell me the pro's and con's of both?
I think i prefer the belt driven tail, i've had a Raptor 60 and found it quite noisey?
Your thought's would be most appreciated, i haven't parted with my cash yet....!
Many thanks,
Peteypie

I would go for the sport over the pro, the main differences are:
Pro has carbon frames, torque tube tail, Fibre glass canopy
Sport has G10 frames, Belt tail, plastic canopy
The G10 frames look like carbon fibre and are around 1/3 the price of the Carbon frames, the belt tail is more durable as if you touch the tail in long grass or the ground the gears break really easy on the torque tube and the finish of the plastic canopy is very nice a smooth but not as shiny as the fibre glass one.
Sport kit is also around £100 cheaper.Last edited by Nutz; 17-07-2007, 08:10 PM.Raptor 50 V3 Titan
