    Help!

I got a used Airwolf body for my 450... and it has retrects. I have connected the retracts to CH7, and the gyro gain to CH5. Retracts working A-OK on CH7, but my Cyro just flashes on, off.. on off...
I think it';s something to do with EPA on CH5, but can't seem to get it right.
Anyone know the fix to lock the gyro into HH?

Reversed the channel, and the gyro arms, and works well... BUT...
Not I have massive tail wag! I'm shot a movie, but it's hard to see it. The tail is wagging a lot. You can hear it on the move more... Not shure how to fix it. Body causing the wag?

    Video at:

    [ame]http://www.thelisters.co.uk/temppics/airwolfwag.wmv[/ame]

Hopefully a gain problem? Need more headspeed because of the extra weight of the body?

Just tried a new battery - same problem. Actually, close to unflyable...

There is a slight change my main shaft isn't 100% straight. However, before I put the body on, and changed the channels, there was no tail wag, so I don't think the shaft is to blame... If it is bent, it's been like that for a week now. Yes, I will replace the shaft, but would that cause tail wag, only when the fuselage is on?

OK - decided to change the main shaft. Changed. There was a bend in the shaft, but minimal. Could hardly notice a wobble when rolling the old shaft. Anyways, a brand new one on. Body off... still got the shakes.

OK - are you all out flying or something??

I have now changed the channels back to as it was. That is, Gyro gain plugged into CH7, so I can switch it on and off. Dead still in the hover!

So, is there a way to link the GEAR button on my TX, to channel 5?? And then I can plug the gear servo into CH5 on the Rx, and then I'll be happy!

            Yes mate,

Retracts should plug into CH5 and be operable from the gear switch.
The yellow 401 gain wire should go into CH7 and the rudder servo into CH4 as normal.

If you dont have a switch for CH7 the EPA or travel menu should be used to control between HH & Normal mode (And gain)
Some radios differ but it should be something like 75% would be 75% gain in HH mode & 25% should be 75% gain in normal mode.) So 51% would be 51% gain in HH mode & 49% would be 51% gain in normal mode..Think of it as a mirror image with 50% as your starting point.

Confusing I know but just try it, set the epa to 50% and press the minus button on the TX to bring it down to 25% whilst watching the light on the 401. If it goes out then below 50% is normal mode and above 50% is HH mode. If the opposite happens then its vice-versa.
            Cheers,

            Gazza

Just noticed from your signature you have the eclipse radio, so you do have a switch to operate ch7 & flick between HH & normal modes.
              Cheers,

                Ta Gazza.
Right, yes, I do have a CH7 switch, and have my gyro plugged into that, so I'm able to switch between HH and STD mode. That's working 100%

So at the moment, I am flying with gear down all the time. My gear servo is unplugged. I'll put it into 5, and see what happens. The manual say that the gear button operates CH5, but only in AERO mode. CH5 is for Gyro in Heli mode... but I will see what happens.

                Really hope it works!

                  Craig,

Channel 5 is USUALLY for gyro yes, but it's only a channel at the end of the day and anything can be run from it...Plus It's linked to the GEAR switch from the factory so I think that sums it up

I set a fellow club members heli up for CH7 Gyro with the eclipse radio & it works spot on.
                  Cheers,

Damn Gazza. I have the gear on CH5 now, but the button is doing nothing... Even if I change the EPA on CH5, nothing buzzes or moves. Looks like in HELI mode, CH5 is reserved? Have you seen it work on a Hitec Eclipse 7?

To add to that, if I go into the GYRO menu on the TX, it's currently set to 0%

When I increase this value, up to 100%, the retracts come up.

And do they come down when you flick the gear switch?

                        They should do??
I've never used retracts myself mate.

Naaa.. nothing happens when I flick the gear switch. I think that because I am in HELI mode, CH5 is reserved for Gyro sensetivity.

OK mate herte is how the hitec works from my understanding ( i had a optic 6 which is hitec, and lots ofg beer forgive the tuypinguig!).

yuo got 3 flight modes + thold flight mode.
If yuo actuvate the gyro menu then you get to set the gro gain (on channel 5) to a new or the sdame value for each flight mode. Incidentally you also get a new settign for all the trims for each flight mode too.

Now you can det the gyro to inh. In cwhich case the ch 5 can then be opertated by the "gear" switch.

Now somewhwre in the ecplise 7 ther mist be a thumbwheel or slider that can operate ch7.
alternatively you can use the gyro setting in the menu and set HH for normal, rate for idel up 1 HH for idel up 2 and HH for t hold. Then you have the gear switch avaiable for ch 7 - ans somewhere in the menu maybe you can assign ch7 to the gear switch somehow.
Yuo need to rwad the amnual I think.
On a aerobatic heli the first use the ch7 would be governaor rotor speed, so yuo might search for that in the manual.

                            Hope that helps.

I kinda understand. I'm hoping to stay in NORMAL flight mode, so I have now put my gear back to CH7.
HOWEVER - the GEAR button still does nothing. I thought it was linked to CH7. I am unable to get my gear button to work - ever. Faulty?
Anyway, retracts on CH7, and gyro back on CH5.. stuck in HH mode.
But I am pretty sure it's going to wag tomorrow ehn I test it.
