    Boggie

Well done, that Rex was a bit of a handful i must say,the Rappy is a totally different animal

Very well done, may see you soon at DMHC,always willing to lend a hand if needed

    Colin

Your correct, although these newer helis may be stealing the limelite, the proven Rappy and Evo will always be a brilliant choice, they are good models, this is why they are so well established in the market place and will continue to be so for ages

      yep

also remember that flying styles 3D in particular have changed quite a bit over the last year or so. These new helis are designed to be banged about mercilessly and not hovered around gently ( although they will ) so not so good for a beginner. The OS 50 Hyper is a classic example of a 3D motor being used by people for hovering, it ain't happy untill its in its power band cos thats what its tuned for.

u only need to check the prices in any model shop Skyline for example or the back of MHW ( when that ridiculous lepton isn't on it ) to see that evo parts are cheaper. Im sure that the kit is also cheaper than a raptor and is a higher spec.

As far as i am aware the Evo is indeed cheaper than the Rappy and is better specced

Some guy had a Knight 60 (??) at the field today, and it seemed to fly smoother than the Raptor. Is the Knight any good?

think I'd rather have the quality of a Hawk 4.... than the quality of the Knight 50...

Its the let down point of the Knight is the quality of some of the metal used but if they spent a bit more on quality it would be a vast improvement but then the price would go up I expect but if meant extra 20-30 pounds on a kit it would be well worth IMO.

I am going to ebay my Knight and it has been replaced by a Raptor Titan which is far better as a 1st time machine.

note my Knight was fine when it flew but then I got behind the Tranny, Knight is not a bad helicopter in the right hands there just not mine.

I started flying nitro heli last year, I bought a 2nd 30 V1 form eBay which was my first bad move, the only thing that worked and was worth keeping was the GY401 ans S9254. So I priced up and bought a new Raptor Titan 50 and Moyesboy is right £700 will build a decent "new" 3D heli but nothing special. My one is only about 20%-30% original Raptor as I have been upgrading a lot as it is a hot set-up and only a few people would go to this extreme, the original is a good sport flyer out the box, as others have said parts are easy to get and it probably the most popular heli in the UK.

The problem with 2nd hand helis is that you don't know what your buying unless you know the person your buying it from and have seen it fly as if they are the type of person to skimp on maintenance or bodge a repair it could lead to accident or even something fatal!

There is nothing wrong with an heli that has been crashed and it makes me laugh when I see ads saying "this heli has never been crashed", I either think they cannot fly or do not use it, therefor they have poor maintenance as even a hard landing you can damage something so that is a crash (accident and crash are the same thing to me, parts need to be replaced). Buying a crashed heli is not a problem as long as it has been checked and repaired properly, I have had 2 extreme crashes (& god knows how many main shaft, feather shaft, blade accidents) since owning mine, the last one was a blade stop auto were the blades folded at around 100ft.........live and learn , I now reckon it flys better than before as all the components have been, checked and replaced if necessary. Even with general maintenance it is easy to over look something so big rebuilds can be good. It is more important to know who and what you are buying rather than which heli you are buying.

I exchanged PMs with Nutz about raptors and he listed all the bits for a raptor for me adding up to £700. So no suprise he says I'm right with that total!
But UK prices that is what it adds up to.

I've had my used rappy apart a fair bit now after i had the clutch come unscrewed I checked most other things. I really can't fault the build so it looks like I was lucky with my used purchase.

yuo need a good drill with a high speed to start the motor easily. My damned cheap drill has knackered batteries- both are flat after 3-4 hours out of the charger. I bought a startter on ebay in the end.
cheap drills have chargers with too much current for the cheap batteries. The batteries are toast pretty soon if you use them a lot. Just so they can say 2hour charge on the box.

lol would agree completly mate, but if its in yer shed already and works it will get you started(forgive the pun). my rappy started today with just a flick of the trigger, i was at a farm 300 yards away from the car so no flight box or batteries to carry
