  • What's the difference between the kits?

    Hi guys,

I've promised myself that when I pass my 'A' ( which may be a while off yet but trying to work out how much cash I need to start setting aside ) I'm going to buy myself a 50 sized Nitro.

Now I think I've pretty much narrowed it down to an Align, or Phoenixtech 600n.

Looking at the Aligns though, there seems to be a 600n Super Pro Combo, which I've seen for around £580 ish, which looks to have everything including an Align 50 engine and muffler, but not sure about servos and gyro.

Then I've seen a 600n LE kit, with a 55 engine ( but no muffler ) and all the electronics including servos for £760

My question is what's the difference between the standard kit and the LE, and what benefits are there of the 55 engine over the 50?

Stick with the Align kit, whats the point in paying all that money for a cheap knock off?

The 55 has a lot more power than the 50, the 50 though is more than adequate for most people.

The Le is the newest version with silver head etc.

You say that but the quality of my TT360 is spot on, and I know the 600n is the same. I've seen the align and the Phoenixtech side by side once already. Having said that I wouldn't use the servos for the Phoenixtech which means not getting a combo so the cost may end up higher.

Is it just a silver head and a different canopy then on the LE or are there any significant differences?

The LE has different coloured metal parts, the NSP came with Blue or Black metal parts, the LE comes with Silver or Black parts, the other change is they've altered the Elevator arm to now double up as the anti rotation bracket, on the NSP the anti rotation bracket was a separate plastic.

For the price difference I'd go for the LE kit as the NSP, when I got it, didn't have any electronics, which will cost more than a couple of hundred to sort. With the LE kit you mention you need a muffler, which will be around £50-£60, and receiver then you're good to go.

Differences have been said already but imo it would be the le as is the latest offering, its looks good and flys nice.

Then, in a years time when you fancy selling the 600 for something else; try selling it

Look at the small amount of people that fly the Phoenixtech range. The either buy the real thing, or spend a third of that amount and go with a clone to pick up the basics with..

To get the full combo deals now is a real bargin compared to a few years ago that's for sure, and on the subject of to buy align or Phoenixtech, all down to how much money you want to spend really.
Both are excellent helis, and the 600 range both align and phoenixtech are great value for money when compared to some.
But other manufacturers are catching up, have you considered a outrage velocity 50, great quality though more expensive, or a Elyq vision 50 comp, cheep to buy but spares a bit pricy.
As for engines, at your level a 50 hyper would be fine, still a great engine and I still run one in my vision 50 and has bags of power

I'm open to suggestions, but I'm trying to keep the budget down a bit on the purchase, but more importantly on parts for the inevitable. That was the main reason for considering the Align/Phoenixtech ones.

I would recommend a velocity 50 over the align- phoenixtech 600's any day second hand or new , I very much enjoy flying my velo 50 :0)

Outrage parts are very well priced and often less than the rest

Outrage parts are right along side align for crash cost, but higher quality, I.e. If you don't crash bits won't wear
