  • 700 clutch upgrade..

    ..but which one?

The clutch on Marks 700 has gone twice in no more than 5 gallons of fuel. Im guessing the gap is too large, hence why the shoes are snapping.

He is going to upgrade the clutch to either a Lynx or a QUk one, anyone had any experience with these? Are they worth the price tag?

The lynx liner looks alright too..

I've been running a QUK one now for some time (approx 18months) ~ no issues at all. More £ than Align but a lot less hassle.

I'm now running the Lynx one after the standard one went, and it is a vast improvement over the standard, with the Align one it was biting so much at idle that you really had to hold on tight to the head, with the Lynx one you put the heli down and it barely starts to turn.

Considering how much better it is, I would have to say that a clutch upgrade is worth doing right away during the build, along with the clutch bearing block.

i fitted the quick uk one on my 700 after the one way bearing started slipping and has been perfect not one problem, also have it on the 600 for 1yr now and also no probs, so imo well worth the price tag.

I have had the QuickUK one since the Heli was new as the Align one had to much run out on the dial indicator. Can't remember my flight count off hand, but it's around 80 now with no vibes or problems.

I post the diameter IIRC in a post at the time. It was I think about .3mm larger in diameter than the Align one.

It did drag the clutch at bit for the first 5-10 flights till the liner settled in, but been perfect since.

                    Unfortunately so..

The Lynx does look good, but there doesnt seem to be much material at the base of the shoes.

                    It isnt over-sized either.

when my clutch went on mine this was also due to my liner being worn on the clutch bell. obviously the quk one is better than the align but the liner still causes the clutch shoes to have to spread futher to engauge. its just the quk clutch is heavier duty.

My 700 is well over two years old now and still has the original kit clutch. It's never been touched and works a treat.
