I gave it the initial flight today, on the third tank I went to give the governor and try and nothing?????

Just got home after 5 flights and dropped the engine out, the magnet has gone AWOL, it was epoxied in with 12 min epoxy so I had not sanded thin super glue and 30 min epoxy on it now (lets see it try to escape!).

The fan plastic seems a little soft, you can see where the old magnet elongated the plastic.

Lee Bert, on the last flights things really inporved, had the headspeed around 2000-2100 and the engine on the rich side with the rud ATV at 150%...............what a giggle

Excellent! It was really coming alive with that higher headspeed even though it was very rich still. It was good to be there for the maiden flight. Looks to be a winner straight out of the box

Took the T6N out today and I was disappointed when on the second flight I saw the same symptoms as the other day when it throw a magnet. Now the magnet I put in had the 2 mating surfaces sanded, a drop of thin super glue on the magnet covered by 30 min epoxy, if it has come out again I don't know what to do?

Chris (R50L) how did you do yours in the end?

Ive always just stuck mine in with 5min poxy (or maybe 30min if it was overnight)

Ive never had one come out on me.

Is the fan plastic? Perhaps its got some release agent on it that is stopping the glue from sticking. Try wiping the fan down with some white spirit next time.

I wonder if its worth scouring out the hole a touch with some scotchbrite wrapped around the end of a drill that should scuff off the release agent.
Either that or maybe an etch type primer fluid such as solarfilm make.
Im willing to bet it is because of the mould release agent or its made out of some such material that doesnt take to well to epoxy. If this is the case maybe use something like stabilit express as the glue.

The plastic reminds me of the glass fibre type that was use on Kyosho off road buggy's, it feels a little soft but strong. I could be talking crap though!

I sanded, super glued and 30 min epoxy and it still came out, I dunno, I am gonna seek help a little later today, it is my only goal for today is getting this sorted.

Never had this problem with my Raptor fans!

                        Hi

The answer to keeping the magnets in seems to be drilling the holes a little deeper or even all the way though so the magnets are fitted flush in the fan and then there is no twisting force trying to pull them out.

                        Cheers

Thanks Bob, I had a natter with RSPB this morning and I am doing what he suggested. At the moment both my magnet holes a knackers

So as per RSPB advice I drilled a hole above a fan fin

And mounted the magnet flush, I then roughened it a little with some wet and dry as I plane to put a layer of epoxy over it

On the under side I made the hole a little bigger so I can put some epoxy filling around the magnet and then I will flatten the epoxy at 45° from the top to the fin.
