Thanks for all the replies guys. I'll go thru them all in detail and act on those that don't cost an arm and a leg...

You will probably break something before it wears out. My Trex is standard apart from the quick uk links (had original wonky links on which I didn't trust) and the -1 main gear (just replaced as the original was looking worn.

No other upgrades, flies great. You can get carried away with replacing everything which might potentially fail, still will not guarentee that nothing will !!.
I agree 100%, had mine just over 1 year not changed a thing.

At the price off them to buy and replace when they go, a header tank is the better option and you get that little extra flight time to get your heli back! Plus you dont have to fill up with fuel straight after you land with a header, which you will need to do with a magnet, otherwise the exhaust gas corrodes the foam magnet rapidly!

Got a header on my Velocity and a Magnet in the N9. Had no real problems with either, but due to the cost of magnets (not sure how often you should change them) I would just use a header in future.

the magnets are something like 4 pound or ten and you should replace them every 4 months or so i think i read

If you're running a governor Martin, fit it before you get the frames together (and before the clutch bell and pinion stack) to make life easier

                Cheers,

My 700N is a first batch in the Uk one so i dunno must be 2 years or more old maybe nearer 3 years cant remember, never crashed it still all original apart from the clutch, beat the crap out of it and its been as good as gold.

Still running the original canopy although thats got a few cracks now so maybe i should treat it to a new one.

and haven't laid a spanner on it in 12 months, although i have put a canomod canopy on it as i liked it

Having read the posts on here, I would like to point out that the 'extras' on my post are not necessary, but I am in the position to be able to afford them should I wish. When I got my Transporter van new 3 years ago, I ticked almost all the extra boxes because I wanted those things, I didn't need them, but I wanted them.

The 700 is IMO a fantastic Heli, built at a price so most can afford it, and the spares are cheap. If there is any doubt about it's flying quality, I suggest you look at the American 3D scene, and see the percentage of 700's against other brands.

Back to the original post, the only upgrade that is really required is the tail blade grip bolts. Replace them with HT bolts. Other than that, build it as per the instructions, use lock tight, and go fly.

You dont get this problem if using a YS though (crankcase pressure instead of exhaust pressure), had mine in for nearly 5 months now with no problems. The YS91sr is a great engine for the 700, bags of power
                        Thanks, Chris

                              look forward to seeing it...

                                yes i was unlucky
i hit the buy it button
but my luck was in when i sold the airframe as align had just put the kit price up
i lost £30 on the cost of the kit
and the £200 in spares (plus the upgrades i fitted)
                                it did fly well

the final straw was a maingear a flight (even with fully adjustable gear mesh)

the upgrades i would make to the 700 on build
the stepped washers and bolts in the frames (or buy a dremel to get the std ones out)
the adjustable metal clutch bearing block
and bin the align bearings and fit good quality bearings
