  • My new 700

Last week I swapped my N9 airframe for an almost new 700le and have to admit I've had a few moments of regret. I did it because as much as I liked the N9, I was always too worried about crashing the bl**dy thing!
Anyway, I spent the week stripping & re-building it and fitting the electrics and engine from the Synergy, and today put about 5 tanks through it (3 of 'em getting the Solid G set up! ), and I have to say I really quite like it!

It may not have the finesse of the Synergy, but it sure feels more powerful. Makes me wonder what the N9 would have been like with the lower gear ratio.

Only problem I'm having is foaming fuel... To the point that the header is filling up with air instead of fuel! I'll pull the motor out this week and hopefully get the clutch dialed in. (should have done it first time! )

So far though, I'm liking this baby!

I have been told that to cure the foaming fuel you have to relive the frame sides so the tank is not so tight, I personally have not done mine, but know a competition pilot who advised the mod. (it also makes taking the tank out much easier)

Thought about that Rob, but I'll try dialing/balancing the clutch first.

Glad you like it Ian, I have flown your old N9 about 6 or 7 flights now, and I'm absolutely loving it. Too much actually I have run out of fuel inverted twice now where I just want fly a bit longer....... oops. All good though thankfully the rape seed crop has cushioned it those two times and I've now set the timer up! I felt right at home with it by the second flight and was doing everything my limited abilities allow. My Srimoks are getting a bit jealous though, think I'm going to have to work out a rota system.

'Nice looking 700. I have always been partial to silvery bits on rotorheads and tails etc.

Are you guys flying out at Croydon airport? I might be able to get over there sometime, 'just need to check the journey logistics. (I know that pic is not from Croydon)
