You know I've looked at the last 8 or so replies to this thread going on about flight times etc.

And i could give a come back to each reply.

All i do want to point out is not one of you own a 700E or have flown one as far as i believe.

I'm not saying you shouldn't have a opinion but it's like the saying ( Don't knock it till you try it ??? )

The battery packs will likely cost more than the heli!

They LiPos scare me when they get to that size too Just the thought of the damage they can to. I know a 3S pack can do all the same, but I can't imagine a 6-8S 5000mAh LiPo creating a small fireball

I think align will get the power train spot on, all there outrunner motors are superb and i think the 700 will be no different.
And with the packs easy to get say 4 6s 5000mah at a hell of alot less than they use to be, i don't see any major issues bar charging these if it was your only machine.

Well I certainly don't own one, I'm in the process of building a 700 Gasser, but it would be nice to have some input from somebody who does actually fly one. It would give a far better perspective on cost versus flight times rather than speculating which I'm aware is what I've done.
My speculation was based on the price that I see cells at in my LHS and the short flight time people flying electrics at our club get.
I certainly won't be offended if your able to give me a better insight into the costs of flying a 90 electric?

My 700E conversion is set up with a head-speed of around 1950 rpm in gov mode with circuits, hovering etc with a timed flight of 10mins on this set up.

On average i tend to put about 3800mAh max back into each pack after a 10 min flight.

As for flying weight i think my 700E comes in a bit above a nitro's flying weight can't remember how much more but also bear in mind a E conversion will have at min double the power output than any Nitro.

As for costs yes there's a big outlay for packs but its being said before with a nitro its pay as you go and a E heli's are pay up front so you really need to look at how much you would pay out on nitro fuel over a min of two years.

But as Lipo packs can be bought from HK for a fair price that's not really a problem in my book i tend to bring a min of 8 pack's out with me flying.

If any thing one of my biggest outlays was buying two Hyperion DUO charger's the reason i have two is i only charge at 1C and i can do 4 pack's in a hour.

I hope this gives you some insight in owning a 90 size E conversion Heli.

I'm well aware the set up outlay will not be for every one but for me I'm well happy, before i did do my 700E conversion i looked at a 700N and a 700Gasser.

But i was put off a Nitro as I'd use a min of a gallon a week and more over the summer weeks.

As for a 700Gasser to be honest i don't have clue about them and no one at our club be able to help me with one, but never say never flight times are great and the best of luck with your's.

Thanks for the info, as long as I have a hole in my bottom I'll never make a 3D pilot so with this in mind I went fot the flight time of a gasser. These engines don't have the power of a nitro let alone an electric heli and certainly more weight.
What cell count are you running yours on, 6s - 10s - 12s?

                Hi

                12S ( 2 x 5000 6S Packs ) 6S wouldn't hold up to long with the amp draw etc it's bad enough on a 50 size E heli.

A few people have gone 10S with good results but 12S tends to be the norm as the higher the voltage pulls less amp which is better for your packs

The F3C boys used to fly 10s, because FAI in their infinite-and-beyond wisdom outlawed higher voltages (AFAIK now it's allowed).

Im intrigued this time around as I did not enjoy my 700e before.

On the helichris conversion it was so heavy inverted it just felt too strange for my liking but from what I have seen of RichyUK's 700LEE conversion that holds 1 pack slightly higher and seeing him and the vids of Jamie flying it, it looks better so it will be interesting to see how the official Align one will be.

Align are now saying it's going to be another 4 months before release to market if there's enough demand.

Plus they don't seem to have sorted there own brand 12S ESC yet
