  • Ideal headspead for hovering manouvers?

Over the past few months I've been practicing the 'B' certificate manouvers, I started this week with the four point pirouette. Anyone any ideas on an ideal headspeed for stable hovering with a T-rex 600N. I've dropped it down to 1700-1750 at the minute which seems OK but anyone any other suggestions they would be appreciated

    Thanks

I would it think it also depends on the dampers you have in there, hard ones will not enjoy a low headspeed. I think I run the 90 at 1750 which has a little nod with the standard dampers in. Not sure how low I will be able to go when I fit the trueblood ones. Worth a scan of the F3C stuff.

Yeah the dampners in mine make it nod when/if I take the headspeed that low
      All the best

I have the standard black dampers with the plastic tube (T-rex 600NSP) someone did mention to me a few weeks ago to change the dampers to the grey ones to reduce nodding at low head speeds. I'll have a look to the F3C stuff to see what I can find.

        Cheers

Look and you shall find... found a thread from earlier in the month which has given some pointers on making a Trex 600NSP more suitable for F3C manouvers.

          Ideas still welcome though...

            Shaun

I did my B test with my Vibe 50, and did the whole thing (hovering and flying moves) in idle up 1 which is set at 1750 rpm with -6, +5, +10 deg pitch. I have 2000 rpm head speed with -10, 0, +10 pitch in idle up 2 which I use more often than not for flying about, but for the test, just did the whole thing in idle up 1.

The easiest way to smooth out the hovering is to stick some alternative paddles on such as the Hirobo Sceadu or JR Vibe 50 ones on. Both these sets of paddles are a two-part plastic affair with brass/lead weights that you can add or takeaway inside the paddle, and neither are particularly expensive. Stick all the weights in and run at 1750 - it will be smooth as the proverbial baby's bottom.

Once you're done with the test, it will only take a second to stick your original ones back on. :-)

Actually, thinking about it..... I might have a spare set of JR paddles at home if you wanted to borrow them? When are you planning on doing the test?

If I have got them, then they're not for sale I'm afraid, but you're welcome to a loan.

I'll check when I get home this evening.

Bloody hell its taken me this long to work out Steve is "The Manager"

What the hell's that all about, Changing your username.

As for the paddles a good tip Steve, I reckon using idle 1 is a good idea too, Every flight I do is idle 2 so going back to a slow headspeed will change things dramatically.

                Good thread.

It's been no secret Tim. Just fancied a change. Funny thing was there was a thread about user names a while back and I commented twice in it and gave two completely different reasons for a giggle, and both of them were complete and utter

Anyway, as for the paddles - I do indeed have a spare pair of Vibe 50 paddles here with all the weights in, so the offer is on if you're interested Shaun. I had them fitted on my 600 when I had one. PM me your address and I'll get them in the post.

Can I also recommend you put a lot of expo in to make the heli softer as well...

Head speed 1800 will be fine heavier paddles help make the heli softer as well then poor in Expo start at 30% but 50% would be good as well. It does help and it makes the heli softer as well easier to hover you won't over correct as much

Hi Steve just been in the shed and found some old raptor paddles black and white ones I think the black ones are the heaviest and seem to fit the flybar. To save messing I'll try these first, (thanks for the offer I'll PM you if These don't work) I'm working towards back end of the month for the B (Weather and work permitting). I've bought some grey dampers for the head today to reduce the nodding. Try an bit of expo to soften up the centre a little. To be honest not into 3d yet would rather get this out of the way (one of my goals this year)

                              Disc,

I've made a note for the weekend on the expo %ages I'll give them a go

What about dual rates? do I need to use them? I don't like the idea of flicking another switch really
