That's about 6Kw or 135 Amps at 44.4 volts (12x3.7 volts). This equates to about 27C when running with 5000MaH batteries, or put another way the batteries will be run down by 80% in just under 2 minutes if you can sustain the power drain!

So is power the real advantage of a 700E over the N? 8HP peak versus 2.5-3 Hp in the N? What's the all-up weight difference? I guess I'm asking why bother as the cost in terms of batteries must be simply huge.

It doesn't pull 8hp constantly, just is 'capable' of it. I got about 3.5 - 4mins out of mine in 3d flight - it was too heavy compared to the nitro but you didn't notice it too much, just felt a bit 'wierd'.

I was running the mod 0.7. Didn't know there was another gear as I got rid of my 700 a long time ago.

It's not often I say this but other than trying it for the experience it's not really a viable option. I personally preferred the nitro (yet to fly a 90 size electric that performs as well as a 90 nitro).

well if you try to use that power, it strips a brand-new, perfectly meshed Delrin main gear after 15 seconds of flight and one heavy-handed flip.

I can fly one F3C round with mine, which must be around 7 min or so, including the hovering moves.
If I push it, the peak current must have been around 140 or 150 amps, because that's where the Jive's overcurrent shutoff triggers. But that is partly saturation of the motor, the electrical power doesn't fully translate into mechanical (which is still otherworldly).

Yes it's too heavy. Could lose some weight. And more flight time. And more batteries and chargers. And a car generator that can keep up with the power demands.
If I'd live in the UK where nitro is half as expensive as here, I'd go with nitro.
Love my 600 - the piston ring is so worn that it barely starts. Power? Enough to lift its own weight. Still, it's so convenient, no hassle with charging.
