        Sorry to butt in on the thread but just a quicky on the cleaning, I know it won't suit everyone as it costs more than a simple cloth but at least doesn't force anything into your bearings. Sao seeing that you also have a background in RC cars, judging by your comments on tuning car engines, I use the Schumacher Nitro Blaster that you can buy in a spray can from hobby shops. I just spray some on a rag/cloth so your not spraying it directly onto bearings and flsuhing them and then just wipe the heli over.
        It evaporates after a short time and doesn't leave a mess.
        Nice helicopter by the way, I like the Canomod canopy

          Thanks for the tip Gramey but I've just been using a micro fibre cloth to give it a quick wipe down after each flight and it seems to be working ok so far. Might get some wet wipes soon as it would be nice to eat food without nitro tinged hands

          Had another good day out with the T-700 yesterday, got the multigov pro onboard all wired up, just needs a few slight tweaks on it to get it spot on.
          Loving the heli a little bit more after each flight now, really has bought my flying along in leaps and bounds this year
          Backwards flight is getting better, just need tidied up the turns, pie dishes are now progressing and I can almost do a slow piro whilst doing it but usually end up bottling out as it goes into knife edge tail leading. More sim practice needed for those.
          4 Point tic tocks are all over the shop at the moment, those are much harder than in the sim!
          Piro flips are sort of getting there I actually manganged one out of about 10 that didnt take up 100M of the strip
          Tried some slappers (I think thats the right term, rainbow with a 180 roll at mid point) and they seem to be easier than in the sim

          I learnt another valuable lesson in nitro yesterday, don't leave the fuel line clamp off with a full tank whilst stood around chatting or it'll flood your engine. Then I learnt not to leave anything in the way of the plug hole when you are clearing the excess fuel or it'll get covered in it
          I got some ribbing from my old electric buddies over that one, and also when they discovered I had left my starter at home

            Another lesson learned this weekend....
            Always, always check your throttle is fully shut before starting heli to prevent messing your pants .

            Foolishly got distracted talking to someone else and didn't realise I had bumped the throttle up to almost half stick. Certainly made me jump I can tell you!

            Luckily I managed to close the throttle before I completely burnt out the clutch and did any lasting damage. Cleaned out the clutch material and carried on for the rest of the day with no ill results.
            I'll be stripping the heli down this week to examine the liner in closer detail and fit the Quick UK clutch I got a while back.

            How does one go about removing an old clutch liner and fitting a new one, Dremel it out, scrape it out with a knife or heat it up in the oven?
            I take it the new one needs to be epoxied in?

              Martin, I've always found that warming the clutch bell up to soften the epoxy works well (assuming it was stick with epoxy, and not Cyno). Notice I said warm, because I'm always a little wary of annealling aluminium.

              Manual removal can be a real pain, and a serious risk to claret production from your fingers

              Can someone confirm that annealling aluminium is done by heating and allowing to cool to room temperature normally, i.e. NOT quenching ? I used to know this for definate, but I'm sat here having a senior moment !
