Ok spoke to fast lads, they think I have a warrenty case. To save time I am sending it direct to Robbe. Unfortunately when I spoke to keith he explained why it was probably the wildcat fuel that cause the problem. Apparently the oil is too thick, and the engines tend to rust up, even in the first gallon. Only after he had expained I had overheated it. I know I hadn't, and pointed out Wildcat was a well known popular fuel used in 3d competitions.

I actually pointed out to him that he was listing all the reasons for them not to honour the warrenty without even seeing the engine ! Seems like a very difficult person to deal with, lets just say customer service isn't going to be on their mission statement! They promised to look at it next tuesday and give a verdict then. Lets hope they do even that much.

Just a thought, what starter wand are you using to start the engine? After poor experiences with K & S kit I bought the Robbe heavy duty wand with built in one-way. After a couple of weeks the engine wasn't turning over with the starter, I checked out the one-way in the clutch which was fine and it turned out that the one-way in the starter wand was slipping After a clean out I greased it with Align one-way grease and it's been fine ever since.

          That's nonsense...
I wouldn't use a fuel that rusted my engines within the first (or any) gallon!
What a very strange thing to say.

          Cheers,

            Hi

I am not saying it was your fault directly as I wasn't there and so it would be unfair to say "you" ran it lean but for what ever reason that engine was lean and so got hot, it's the only reason that that sort of damage can happen to the piston.
Maybe a blocked filter, airleak, etc.

            Cheers

Fair point bob. I know there was not a lube or temp issue though. I don't think they will honour the warrenty anyway. IC engine failure is definatly a grey area even if the engine blows in it's first run.
