no links or balls for the blade grips or the flybar cage

i'm looking into a mod of using parts off the 600 flybar cage and the quick uk link and a jr ball for the blade grip
when i get the parts i will know if it will work or not

some are re-sizing the quick uk link to fit the flybar cage

I think the Quick uk set dose include the grip and flybar cage links but not the balls, luckly i have a few spare new quick balls and have just turned these up on my lathe so i only need to resize the cage links

Looks good there. Is it just a case of using a ball reamer then?

for the flybar cage yes, as if they pop off there not going anywhere and you will still have parcial control, but i wouldn't trust it on the grips, hence why i spent the time and turned those up, Quick uk need to make somit like this and add it too the set " you watching this Bud " then they would have a proper fix !

They look similar to the stand offs that are used on the k3d

The Knight fans were brittle and boiling those cured the problem.Wouldnt do it with links though.

Maybe the head loads are higher on the 700 than on the 600, if so us 600 owners might be at risk if the design is at the top end of tolerance??? I would agree with you Chris, its probable that the 700 links are made out of the same plastic as the 600 ones - unless someone at Align can tell us otherwise.

Does the team think that this problem will be seen on the 600 as winter approaches?

The 600 links are much stronger than the 700 links believe it or not (according to my findings and Paul's original post). My 600 has been thru several winters with no issues.

Well what a difference a day makes.I recd this morning the newer Align link set.

My plan has totally changed with regards to the links.

I swapped the bladegrip to mixing arm links this morning and found that my new Align links were still banana shaped but i was gonna ignore this for now as they are only cheap.

I then decided to test one of the links that had come off the model(35 flights old) and i held the link with one had and bent the holed end sideways to see how strong it was and was horrified to find that it snapped VERY EASILY about 30 degrees of bend was enough.

I then tried a New from the pack 700 link,a new 600 link a Quick Uk link,a Hirobo link and an unused from the original kit 700 link.

All of these took a 90 degree bend one way, back to straight, then a 90 degree bend the other way then back the first way again before snapping and the snap was more of a split apart than an actual snap.

I then tried one of my links off a 600N thats a year old and this link also managed to hold out just as long as the above ones all did. This model has done approx 200 flights.

My unscientific conclusion is that the 700 links, when having been used on the model do become brittle.

I do not know if the newer Align links will fare any better than my original ones but i am not prepared to try them.

The Quick link set is to hand and the whole lot is being changed.

To add i also tried the throttle link ball end which gets least load and it snapped really quickly also.

I would suggest people try their own tests for their own piece of mind if nothing else.

Colder conditions are only going to make the situation worse.

Just to add i got my new Align links and Quick links Tuesday, after testin th new Align links and finding them just as brittal and sloppy "didn't bother threading them on to a rod" so not sure if there wonky, ut dosn'tmatter as i have fitted the Quick uk set, very nice only grip with this set is it could do with 4 of the longer links.

Already had a look at the 600 Flybar cage..sadly the 600 Item is wider and the threaded part is stepped both ends preventing a swap over.

i'm looking into a mod of using parts off the 600 flybar cage
                              cheers Brian

with the 600 flybar cage i'm using the rod and then going to shim the cage on the flybar as the 600 rod is longer than the 700 rod
i'm still going to use the 700 ends from the cage
when the shims come i'll let you know how it works out
