FYI Chris, the links were 5 flights old on my 700n and were brand new out of my spare production 700n kit (unbuilt). As Ade said, I reported this but as usual I was told there is no problem, strange how I managed to spend £500 on blades for a machine with no problems that kept crashing itself due to mechanical failures??? I grounded mine a long time ago because it would have ended up hurting someone sooner or later. Shame because I loved the way it flew.

he said don't worry send them in and he would get them out strait away, so i could definatly be flying again by the weekend,

OK i though and stripped the heli, and had them posted before 12 monday morning, well guess what its 11:00 Saturday and still no links, "Nice fast Service" NOT !! ,

I have ordered the Quick UK ones now anyway so i will test this new batch from robby if they ever arrive :/

IM NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE SERVICE FROM ROBBIE UK !

Been there, done that, still waiting for the 3 new servos for my T-Rex 500 that fried thanks to my Align ESC not being faulty according to Robbe...even though it caught fire and Robbe finally replaced it etc. etc. etc. Ad Infinitum

          Cheers for the info Trev

I flew mine today and want to take it up to Keevil on Monday to show a friend and then it will be getting the Quick ones.

All the 700 owners at DMHC today are going the same route.

Really love the model so although it shouldnt need modifying i am happy to do it.

          Input appreciated

Safety in mind this is one of the more important threads IMO.

A very large thanks to all for your input and especially Paul for bringing this problem to light for such as myself who to be honest hadnt heard of any linkage problems until this thread started..

There are a lot of 700's out there currently flying. It would be good if we can narrow this down further.

Is it the same link thats failing?

              Are failures occuring post crash.?

How many have suffered this in the UK?

Anyone else notice how tight some of the links were when building. A few almost certainly requiring a ball link tool to screw them up properly etc

Has anyone had a failure using the 2nd batch of 700's (the ones with the squint links)

We have already established that its NOT servo brand related...Anything else you can think off?

              cheers Brian

screwing the wonky links on was pretty hard on the links, very tight. Possible stress fractures from that.

It really does need more info for sure.

Mine has the banana links but they all seem fine, they are not particularly loose on the balls and i have been giving it some beans.

A DMHC member who has a first batch 700 had a heavy crash last week that was pilot error,he was flying level inverted and pulled back elevator instead of forward so he nosed it into the ground, there was little damage TBH but the bladegrip links were broken but i am sure this could happen anyway with that sort of crash. All the other links seemed OK,the bellcrank to swash rods were bent, mast was bent but nearly everything else was fine.

I am pretty convinced that this is just another repeat of the panic with the 500 esc when that was new and they locked out the Rx apparently.

God knows how many 700`s are flying trouble free out there, however with the safety aspect in mind due to such a big model i will swap the links all out,if this was a 50 size model i would probably just leave it as it is.

Has anyone tried boiling their links and repeating the "cold" test yet??

Paul remember the N9 u/c problems in the states??

yes andy, i do remember that. fwiw it's not common here yet imo because we are not in winter temps yet. i fear these things will be dropping like flies in colder weather. i got my quk link set today. i'm still considering how to replace all the links.

i will try a few tests when i fit my new links. just now i don't have spares for either of my 2 700's.

                      cheers

i wouldn't dream of doing that on links btw, they are stretching already without doing this. i shall do it as a test though.

                          cheers
