  • Maidened the 700 tonight.

Finally got the 700 up the field for its maiden flight tonight..

Words fail me how well this fly's, My first 90 size heli and totally gob-smacked with it.

Tonight just saw me put 4 tanks of Magnum 30% through it in normal mode (very quickly too)....... Jeebus this thing drinks more than Oliver Reed did in his better days..

Anyhow all working very well and looking forward to getting it into idle-up 2 so I can give it some stick..

What sort of period / how long / how much nitro before I can start to lean it out and get the carb smart fully operational and whack the head-speed up to its optimized speed...

Flew 4 tanks tonight and half the first bottle of Magnum has gone..

One small niggle was the heli had a slight shake (not the tail) at low throttle when flying but it disappeared when more throttle was applied, Is this normal with nitro's or should I be looking for something else..

Way to go! I had a similar shake in the hover at low throttle. I upped the RPM on the governor by 1% and it went away. Seems like it resonates much the same as mine did.

I flew 5 tanks through my Super Pro before going to Idle 2 @ 2100 RPM, but then again i only sport fly with a few flips and loops... Not got to 3D yet!!!

      Hope you enjoy it mate

Thanks Eddie, Yes had timmy / Dougie and Richard Littlewood round flying tonight too so they got to see it as well..

Had a bit of trouble turning the engine over from new, Could have been tight or maybe the starter isnt up to the job on a 90 size heli..

Took my 18 volt battery operated De-Walt drill as a back-up with the wand in the chuck, That certainly made it cough and start..

Can't get over how heavy these 90 size helis are. Certainly makes my 600e feel very light.

Ace mate, sounds like a good 'un there Not sure I could cope with that fuel usage though

Shake is prolly the head damper being hard and therefore not liking low RPMs.

Yeah I'm hoping once it gets leaned out I will get a little more mpg..

Got the carb set on the book settings at the moment.......

High Speed needle valve exactly 2 1/2 turns open from fully closed.

Medium Speed needle valve exactly 1 1/2 turns open from fully closed.

What this needs to be after the running-in period remains to be seen then get the carb smart link back on the heli and adjust from there..
