Please remember that the £28.00 is not just for INS it should deliver way much more.....Its because we see the £28.00 as nothing in comparison to everyday life that we just accept it as being value for money just in that context alone.
    Cheers

I believe so for the insurance alone, but then I have never had cause to test its use, thank goodness

Other than the mag and the insuruance what else does it provide>?? I voted unsure as I dont know how much similar insurance would be individualy, as it is based on not just buying power of a group of people but also the percieved risk and liability.

I voted yes not just for the insurance , but because of the other stuff the BMFA does in the background .. I dont agree with some of the old crap they pull but thats then down to new members making the council and voicing an opinion to said problems in the heli world ... Theres alot of people that moan about this and that but wont get offa there ass and do something about it ...

Being such a large organisation the BMFA gets insurance at a very good price, try to find insurance for one club and see how much it costs.

The BMFA is the national representitive body for all model flying, whatever discipline and negotiates with the authorities over things like frequencies and was largely involved in the introduction of 2.4ghz systems. They also fight the hobbies corner against all sorts of people who would like what we do severely restricted or even banned. The BMFA provides a support service to clubs who are having problems with neighbours or their local authority, they also provide help and advice to those looking to set up a new club.

I can understand many not being clear what the BMFA does for us but I'm sure most of us would suffer if it didn't exist.

As an ordinary BMFA member for 9 years I would say it was cheap insurance and I got a magazine a few times a year. Being the chairman of our club for 2009 they do offer so much help and advise (which sometimes does need to be taken with a pinch of salt) I recently attended a BMFA chairman's conference and it is surprising what they do for the hobby. I have heard many flyers ask this same question so I invited the BMFA to our club meeting in May this year to tell us what they do for the money we pay, hopefully this will answer many questions. But I'm sure it will open some more

I'm afraid i voted no to this one. The mag has little content that intrests me and i do think that the subsidy for this level of under representation dosent offer good value

I don't have any issues over the price we pay for the INS, i'd even pay more.....but on the flips side they have built up substantial cash reserves £1m and are making a sizable profit year on year. Now nothing wrong in my mind with making a profit, provided your delivering back into the hobby. Unlike normal companies that would list a companies accounts showing detailed profit and loss and exactly where the operating costs are generated from the BMFA doesn't.
