Have you looked at the demo recording by Duncan within Phoenix?

Its all about timing - stir your sticks at the same rate as the piro I always start piro left and stir right starting the stiring if you like by going to 3 o'clock first as soon as I start to piro. Very little pitch is required to achieve the result.

        Hi,

Watch the two piroflip animations and look for a couple of reference points and then practice practice practice practice. It took me about two years to get somewhere close and it's still crap!!

I can occasionally get a few good one's in a row but most end up in a crash on pheonix.

It's the hardest rc move I think!

I can do it on phoenix although messy & i can now do reverse piro flips aswell which was a totall head F..... However when i attempted a normal one on my 450 (i tried a half piro flip & not continous) from inverted to upright it looked like the heli was flying like a bicycle wheel being spun in your hands. I have tried it a few times since with similar bad results so i've knocked that on the head for now.

That sounds like your stirring in the wrong direction for the direction of piro you are using.

This thread inspired me to practice on Phoenix all weekend and I can now do a rather untidy piro flip. Thanks peeps!

Right, I got some great piro flips on Phoenix using the 600 Nitro OS55 model. However, how do you get that nice bit in the middle where the heli is either inverted or right way up and just piro'ing without flipping? I can just keep stirring and it ends up level but I don't know how to stop it at this point. If I stop stiring the heli always seems to stop at an angle and either piro's into the ground, into my face or shoe.

I notice on Matty's vid recording he seems to move the sticks just up and down at this point.

I want to do a piro flip to inverted, piro a few times and then flip back over, not a whole quick messy movement as I am doing now.

                          Cheers!

I've just started doing half piro flip for real from inverted to right way up (i just find it easy that way). To keep piroing on the spot after the flip is just a matter of correcting the heli. Learning to hover in all orientations helps alot (inverted side on is the tricky one for me). If you learn all the hovering orientations and practice bail-out manouvers, it should in theory be second nature when stopping the piro flip with the heli at an angle to correct.
As others have said, it can take ages to learn and master.
I've been practicing for 6 months now on pheonix and there still messy as hell lol
                            Thanks, Chris

Break the move into 3 parts. The initial piro flip, the stationary piro and the second piro flip. To get a piro flip right you need to be able to piro in one spot both inverted and upright. If you master that first the piro flip is the easy bit. It is a lot harder to learn a prio flip and a stationary piro at the same time. HTH
