    Ok thanks devindh for confirmation.

G4/4.5 indeed uses DDS files, same 6 as PhoenixRC.
Furthermore Realflight lets you import 1 big RAW image file and will convert it into 6 pieces DDS. Really handy when you have a big panorama file.

    Cheers!

Ah that must bee where im thinking it uses 1 image..

when i had realflight i always imported 1 image and didn't realise it created 6 images from it.

puzom you're completely right (i had no idea relflight used the same system as phoenix)

So heres the Cumbernauld model flying club field converted to Phoenix.
(I didn't realise the g3x file was readable using winrar either )
I tried to replace the sky as the original was just clouds everywhere, its a little messy but will do
(i'll retake the photos sometime soon as these ones were about a year and a half ago and i didn't really know how to do a decent panorama)

Wow Alan, nice work with the flying fields.
Just got round to downloading them, as I’ve been bit busy recently.
Really impressed as I have never even looked at this in creator.

Can I make one tiny comment on the VTFE field, would it be better to make the helis sink into the corn, say 6” or so? It feels wrong to be able to land on it!

          Many Thanks

          Tim.

            Thanks, another nice site

Yes the downloadable files from Realflight are just sort of zipped and winrar can open them without problems
Hopefully the new creator version will also support raw image conversion to 6 DDS files.

There are also some good Aerofly deluxe sceneries on the net, but sadly Aerofly does not use DDS. Uses lots of smaller files....

            Cheers!

              Or

Go to flicker, find some equirectangular image, http://www.flickr.com/groups/equirectangular/pool/,

download largest file, resize to 8192x4096 jpg image, convert it to cubic, renaming file ****11.jpg to ****_1.jpg till ****66.jpg to ****_6.jpg (using dos numbering/jpg conversion), import it to creator with auto option, and you're done.

              Cheers.

                not quite
theres still all of the collision stuff to do (whats the point if you can't cash into objects in the scene

                      Hi Alan,

you spoke of "just photos" which could be taken by everyone in the net. For being a 3-D-designer I think it's a quite unusual statement. My "photos" are a result of not just 2 hours you say you had to do with the construction. Lübeck-Airport e.g. is a result of several weeks of preparation. Contacting authorities and friends and one whole day for travelling and shooting. And then many, many days to get the photos together by stitching and to do the rest of photoshopping. You say: "NOBODY ever reads those (EULAS) anyway."
But these EULAs are not my own invention, they are used by all who don't want their work spreaded out without control. Some of my works I found in in the web in very bad conversions and if the name and my weblink in the nadir wasn't erased, people could frame me by the poor quality. (Don't know the right expression - dictionary-english, sorry).
The possibility to retouch the photos (dds-files) cannot be avoided, so you used it and painted your nickname and the logo of the Heliaddict-Website on the fire-truck.
I don't like this. It seems to me that you adorn yourself with borrowed plumes.
Anyway, your brillant conversions had suprised me by the very good adaption and construction in spite of the limited features of the Phoenix Creator. So I would definitely be glad if you want to cooperate with me. So I can give you some better pictures with much higher resolution. I've done so with "Residential", which Jason Znack wanted to rework.

                      Best regards

                      Harald
                      Cheers,

Harald i'm sorry if it has caused you any problems I had no intention of ripping anybody off... I just wanted to provide some quality interactive scenes for phoenix.. (you were just the unlucky one who had done the best panoramas i found for download)

the little additions on the airport scene were just playing around really to see what could be done.
I had never intended to offend... it wasn't my name on the fire truck but the logo of the music group of the same name. Im sorry for that.
I did credit you for the panoramas in my 1st post with the downloads as i had no intention of making out that i had done the photography work. I said that i had only done the conversions and i have always said that all i did was convert existing scenery. I had no intention of taking credit for your excellent panoramas.

I have taken all the flying sites down so nobody can get them now.

like I said in earlier post

"if it was me i wouldn't care who used my panorama images in other flight sims.
We're all RC enthusiasts afterall and others wanting to get the use from any work i do is fine by me."

and i really meant that, the few of my panoramas scenerys i put on knifedge forums for people to use I gave away as a freebie to anybody and everybody who wanted them.
i was giving something to the RC community to use, how they use it is up to them. (anyway thats my thinking on the matter of "just photos")

being perfectly honest i didn't look at the EULA in your files, I'm one of the people who never reads them so sorry for that also.

but i also have to thank you for being nice enough to compliment my conversions
as you say the creator for phoenix is very limited but i have the advantage of over 15 years 3d modeling experience so its kids play to me .
I would very much like to cooperate with you but i feel as if i've stepped on your toes , it wasn't a very gentlemanly thing for me to do, it was obvious that these images were somebody elses hard work and i should have read the EULA to find out your wishes, im sorry for that and i appreciate the fact that you can still be civil about it.

Hi Panox (Harald) First can I welcome you to the Forum

Being a long time simulator user can I take this oppurtunity to thank you for providing the many fantastic images over the few years I have used model Simulators.

I can understand your feelings about your content being used but would like to add without your contribution it would be a very boring place to fly and I always enjoy a flight on sceenery based on your images.

Alan has done an excellent job converting your images to date and I would be very pleased if you would allow him to continue using your content.

The combination of your photograpy skills and Alans 3D modeling skills has possibly produced some of the best sceeneries to date for us all to enjoy. Alan, I might add he has also done this without any reward or personal gain to himself..

So Harold please still allow us to continue to benefit from your skills in the future by sharing your images.

                          Kind regards Brian

I would agree whole heartedly with Brian, it certainly enhances the experience of Pheonix to have a choice of flying arena.

and with your dedication to the photography and Alans skills in the 3D department its certainly made a differance.

I think there would be many people who would be very grateful to you if you were to allow us to keep using your scenes, i'm sure if alan has made any changes your not happy about then fair enough withdraw that scene or maybe we can puersued Alan to do a little remodelling.

Again thank you for your Photography Harald and I do hope you decide to let us continue using it.
                            All the best

                              thanks tony..
with regards to the changes i made to the airport scene (its the only one i've changed)
I did that for a laugh... I had this scenery (and most of the others) on my HD for about 6 months using it personally so i thought what the hell its only going to be me that sees it.....then judgement got the better of me and i posted here.
in hindsight it was the wrong thing to do and i posted the sites because i downloaded some sites from helifreak which were lets just say crap, no collision models etc.
I wanted to show how a scenery should be done so i wrongly uploaded the many i had converted for personal use without permission.

I cannot apologise enough to Harald for what I did.

                                Hi,

chemicalbro, you and Harald will get to a solution i'm sure
Nice to see you took the sceneries down, shows you care indeed. Would be great to see them alll on Haralds page http://sceneries.jimdo.com/szenerie-download/phoenixrc/

Perhaps it's handy to change your first post, so people know the sceneries are on hold and links down.

Think it will only get a positive outcome, Harald has the originals which are high quality. Hopefully this will deliver images without compression issues. Such as lines in the sky.

DDS files in 24bit RGB seem to look best, downside 12MB files

                                Cheers!
