  • AccuRC First Impressions?

Just received my copy of AccuRC through the post this morning and just wondered what people’s first impressions were?

For myself – it was a PITA to load up – not just the length of time (already mentioned on their Facebook page), but mine would not load up and kept aborting saying that the installation was interrupted and to re-try. After the 3rd attempt, I gave up and passed it to my 16yr old son.
He managed to get it working, but had an Active X problem (?). He e-mailed support (quick response) and they suggested uninstalling Active X and reload AccuRC. Well, it worked.

My first impressions on flying (for half an hour) was that it was similar to Phoenix (I own Phoenix & RealFlight), but not as good as RealFlight. I was not overly bowled over by it, but it worked OK.
For example – I did my first (messy looking) piro loop this weekend at the field. It still looks messy on RealFlight, but on AccuRC, I was a 3D god and it looked perfect – almost too easy.

I must emphasise that this is my first impressions and my views may change after having time to tweak it and become familiar with it. I am looking forward to have a play with the software and see what it can do.

I'm hoping this does well as it has some great ideas. It has to be better than Phoenix, My tic tocs are a foot of the ground and never move on it. The same moves on realflight are a fair bit trickier and much more true to life.

Had a go yesterday I also felt it was like phoenix....requires a bit of setup to get something close to 3d flyable....install was a PITA for me also plagued with disc not being read and flash player install issues....

Prefer real flight 7 by a considerable margin.....Unfortunately

made an iso image - installed it from the iso - took me some time to get my 18MZ working with it with the SBUS cable - got to admit I didnt check any manuals at all - dont know if there are any with it - anyways got the model "out" flew 5 minutes - cant be bothered to tinker with it really to make it feel as my model flys ...

generally - graphics arent as impressive as the hype suggested - did even do some odd things by giving it full throttle and forward elevator in my setup - kept constantly spinning around ... I might just keep it on the shelf any keep real flight going when I feel for a sim - might check the updates but first impressions: clearly overhyped - but support the local scene so I bought it and not fussed about it ... I bought neXt when he had 3 models in there but still use it occasionally so waiting for some progress ...

I suspect that many were waiting to see if this was actually a great step forward or just a case of over-excitement about something new.

Based on the thread so far it doesn't look like RealFlight has anything to worry about, so my thanks to Sev and others for spending their money so I could save mine

I got this yesterday, and noticed that it's on a DVD-R rather than a pressed DVD. I copied it over to my hdd and installed it to my ssd from there. Installation was quick and painless.
I immediately loaded the pro setting for the E7 and up into a hover. Hovering is noticeably better than Phoenix, which I use daily for at least half an hour.

Upon doing a fast full collective backwards loop the tail went completely crazy. Not surprising when I looked at the pitch gauge and saw 15 degrees.

Swapping the blades on the E7 made a jaw dropping difference to how it flew.

In summary, I'm not totally bowled over by it, but it has promise and I'm sure it won't be long before it leaves ask the others way off in the distance.

I would have to invest in a new machine to run it half decent. I don't mind doing so if it is some meteoric leap forward. But the response so far isn't overwhelming.

while busy working I tried to setup the align 700 after I saw a video explaining that the stock setup would be pretty much useless - so why is it in there in the first place ...

anyway - set it to pro, tweaked everything hoping that the overall feel would improve ... set my pitch to +-/13° and headspeed as on my 700 dfc ... 1850/1950/2150 - servos to 6V and so on and so forth ... interestingly I cant get airleron to roll as it should - cyclic response has already been set up to 600° but didnt seem to make a difference from 360° onwards ... elevator flip rate feels about right - aileron keeps barrel rolling and at a speed I think I never even started flying with - feels like I would have loads of expo on it as well - but I tweaked everything Ash has mentioned to have an impact - model still feels poor ... so even after messing about with it - still from my perspective unusable ...

another thing I realised - when I spool up to 2150 on the floor then give it full pitch and then give full forward elevator and hold it there - the model does a hurricane like move, while constantly swinging the tail round - looks ace as a manoeuvre but surely shouldnt be the case ... if I keep full pitch and full forward elevator it does it actually all day long I believe after 3 minutes looking at it I had enough ...

unfortunately the align 700 is the closest model I could compare as none of my other models is present - generally it seems a lot of models and components are dated and/or incomplete - so I think we need to wait until further components and models have been added ...

I used the rush because its the closest in size to my g4. I found the setup tuning to be very intuitive. If you know how you want it to fly a half hour should see it pretty much bang on. The graphics are actually good but you need to jack the settings to max.
I don't know what your running on but my pc is old I built it 6/7 years ago and it plays fine. Specs are intel core2 quad at 2.5ghz, 8gb of tripple channel ram. 2x ATI radeon 4870 in cross fire giving 8gb of graphix ram. It runs great but starts to struggle if I edit while flying.

I got it out of curiosity and to support local guys, I am happy with RF and didn't really need another sim unless revolutionary.

I didn't have time to play with it for long but first impressions are good. Models need to be set up (in flybarless setup) then they fly in very realistic way. I got very close approximation of my Logo very quick I think it's a big strength of this sim.

It's unfortunate that models are setup in very docile way out of the box - gives really bad first impression.

Graphics isn't great, it's average. I think they render in lower res and upscale in widescreen resolutions - huge jaggies w.o AA on. Shaders on the models are poor. But it's not too bad overall, I don't care that much.
Sounds is ok, better than RF and Phoenix.

I need to play with it more.

After playing with it for about 2 hours and then for 30 minutes back and forth between RF 6.5 and this, I must say that physics feel is better in AccuRC. It's not as huge gap as between Phoenix and RF, but it's certainly noticeable and worthy improvement. It feels much more natural, I can tell there is a proper physics model working in the background (with all its pluses and minuses). With all human readable tweaking on top of it, I think it's got a really great potential.

There is a couple of obvious bugs in physics model tho, most notable for me is that there is something wrong with pitch, it's quite muddy for the lack of better word. I hope these will get fixed soon.
                            Wind simulation is great.

It definitely needs a lot work on overall presentation and polish. Workshop looks ugly (except the actual model) . One of the sceneries has a ton of horse shite, literally. Box needs a lot of work too, nobody is going to pick it up from the shelf at a shop/trade stand - it does look nice but very sterile, it needs a flashy helicopter/plank .

I don't know how to assign TH/Idle up when using virtual tx. I also don't know how to mix and match components, I want 12s in the Logo, but all I see is 5s lipos.

Michal, if you set the Anti-Aliasing to aa8 it should sort your graphics issues out. On my pc its quite jagged without it. I run with the anti-aliasing at AA8 and the flight physics on auto
