Don't get me wrong its a different approach to the concept of rc heli simulation.

I just don't believe its going to add much more to what's in the market place at the moment. Lets not forget people change the FBL on there heli's be it a beastx, vbar or spartan and all will say there heli flies different even when its the only element changed in a heli.

This sim I believe rely's on the one FBL system that isn't a player in the market. How tunable is the FBL system on the sim which to me puts you back to where you started with sliders etc.

Its flashy and clever but will be so much an improvement that our flying is enhanced at field where it matters versus what people use at the moment - hmm not convinced just looks pretty......
    Cheers

In these flybarless times,V bar feels different to 3GX,as does Beast X,Skookum, etc etc.

You can play with servos and blades all you like but unless you are running real fbl controller code thru it from each system your pi$$ing in the wind.

As mentioned ive run different fbl systems on the same heli with different results,IMHO this is just another simulator.

Surely IF you get the SIM feeling like your own real heli, then if you were to change say the blades or headspeed etc, you would see/feel the difference.... That's where I think it will be great (if it does what it says on the tin!)

What about the many reports from fliers who have two identical models but still reckon they can feel subtle differences between them?

If we want to get Anal, will every engine of same make and size produce exactly the same power in different conditions, will every Align 610 perform exactly the same,i could go on.

It looks really good if your into that kind of thing though for sure, will be interesting to hear peoples views on it once its out and been thru the hype stage.

If i was looking for a sim now i would personally choose XTR 2

It doesn't matter if in the real world different engines and servos have variance. In the sim you can change the specs anyway. The main point is that those specs drive the physics and have a realistic affect on the way the model flies. I really don't care about the workshop or all the fancy gimmicks. All I want is to be able to set up a model in 5 mins and have it fly very close to the same model in the real world. I don't want to phaff around with numbers and sliders that have random effects, wasting my time for hours and hours. If the workshop allows me to do that then i'm sold.

Well they did actually say they are quite open to the idea (and can easily implement) of using actual FBL firmware from real world units. The catch of course is getting the FBL manufacturer to agree to hand over what is very valuable code. They would have to be very convincing about what security mechanisms they have in place to prevent unauthorised users accessing that code.

The benefits to the FBL manufacturers could also be positive though - it's free advertising and "try before you buy". I could also see some people specifically choosing a FBL unit that they are able to re-create in the sim.

We'll see what happens. I won't be getting this sim any time soon anyway since it's PC only but I am definitely keen to give it a try and am willing to keep an open mind given everything I've read about it.

Will be interesting to see for sure,i cant see Mikado playing ball especially as their code is popping up in more and more Chinese units now.

The workshop graphics look awesome but the flight video doesn't look any different to any other sim.
My main question is why would anyone want to use a 'pretend'pitch guage on a 'pretend' heli?
Price is good but my computer runs phoenix just about and I won't be buying a new one just to play dress up with the model. If the physics is way better than others then fine but I doubt that it can be much better than other programmers/engineers/physicists have already done.I hope it is a world beater and wish them luck but I remain sceptical.

IF and it's a BIG 'IF', the physics and therefore the flight characteristics and feel of the model are the same in the real world as the virtual world then this really will be a pretty amazing product.

There is a lot of hype and therefore huge expectations for this sim. But that also comes at a price if it doesn't meet those expectations.

I have no doubt it will be popular (like so many new products in this hobby) to begin with. It's durability will depend on what it delivers. I certainly hope it will!!

Perhaps a dongle could allow you to connect your own FBL unit to the PC and let it do all the flying.
