i just don't see the want or need for this, to me the sim is a fantasy world where u can have whatever you want. At no point would I think, yeh I'll have a slightly worse tail servo today. Just give me the best.Originally posted by mahbouni View PostI think it's really cool to be able to model the heli at a component level but it's only useful if the finished heli flies similar to a real one with the same components. If there is a 1 to 1 mapping of every single component that produces similar results then it will be the most revolutionary simulator ever developed.
to me the sim is about learning stick movements and manoeuvres, flying a heli is difficult enough, when I fly the sim I want the heli to be the best it can be. I've never got a sim and thought 'ok I'll fly a micro Heli', because it handles poorly, the tail is rubbish and I can hardly see it. Maybe I'm alone in this way of thinking? I definitely don't want a sim so I can tune a model heli.
i genuinley hope this sim is as good as the hype, but for the right reasons, ie it flys better and looks better in flight, not because it is different in that you can play with ball links, maybe one of the beta tester can comment here?

I can't argue with what you're saying. At the end of the day you use the sim in whatever way you want to. For me the sim is a tool to lean new moves and bring them out into the real world. The problem is making that transition from the sim to the real world. It's all very well having the best flying heli in the sim but if it flies very differently to your own heli in the real word then it will be harder to make that transition. Then again everyone is different. Some people will make the transition very easily and others claim they don't even need a sim. For me I learned nearly everything in RealFlight before bringing it to the field. Over the years I started to see a pattern of progression. I can often predict a time frame from sim to field for myself.Originally posted by hanson View Posti just don't see the want or need for this, to me the sim is a fantasy world where u can have whatever you want. EDIT: I read my post again and realized I missed a point. While RealFlight can be tuned to fly like my own heli, I had to fiddle around with all sorts of parameters that do not match my own heli in the real world. They feel similar in flight characteristics but on paper are very different. I have no interest in playing with different virtual components in the sim for the sake of playing. What I want is to be able to choose every component that I have in my real heli and expect them to fly similar. If I try a component in the sim and I like it then maybe I will go out and buy that component in the real world.Last edited by mahbouni; 28-04-2014, 10:23 AM.

I am impressed that they actually invested in copy-protection from start - waiting to get my hands on the dongle - thats whats raising the interest hereOriginally posted by waveydavey View PostAnyone want to buy my Phoenix sim

Not me I'd happily pay twice that if it is what it says it is. Not bothered about the dongle or the copy protection, top job IMOOriginally posted by r4nd0m View PostI am impressed that they actually invested in copy-protection from start - waiting to get my hands on the dongle - thats whats raising the interest here

Any chance of a few bullet points for us that live in the dark ages and dont have a great (none) internet connection? You seem impressedOriginally posted by waveydavey View PostAnyone want to buy my Phoenix sim

Very impressive indeed...
Hopefully that silences some of the people that think all the time will have been spent on making pretty components and models! Look forwards to trying it out (on someone's pc lol)Ridding the world of Helis, one crash at a time....

I don't know where to start Vinny, the amount of work is nothing short of incredible, the team that has been assembled to assist with the physics, the thinking behind how the Heli is constructed and modelled, the different components change the way the Heli flys. You can select different servos, motor/engine, blades etc and they are all modelled accurately not just fr looks but for the flight performance. The price was a shock, pitched right at Phoenix and if it gives half of what it promises then they're going to struggle to compete with it, especially with the Heli fraternity

New SIM coming
I really hope the big FBL guys get involved... I can understand why they might be reluctant but the advantages of them being represented would also be clear, it'd just have to come with some pretty tricky contracts I'm sure.
They already have the Rush 750, and the torque servos I use... Now I just need them to model the cyclone blades and the sk720 black FBL system.
It would be amazing to be able to figure out what settings you need for the FBL unit in the sim before you even go out for the maiden flight!
I do have to say I was blown away by the level of detail they've gone into. Truly incredible work, and as I say I can't wait to have a go to see of it really lives up to the hype.Ridding the world of Helis, one crash at a time....
