Been a while sinse I've posted on the forum been tied up at work busy busy ,anyway I maidened the Apache on Saturday just gone with the help of lee tweeking a few little issues anyway it took off just about hovered itself as they usually do after the eye of Egan has has set it up lol the centre of gravity was ok the head speed seemed to be fine 1150 rpm thanks to bud at quick uk ,the only issues we had was vibration throughout the entire fuz hence the headspeed maybe dropped a little ,took it home and added a carbon fibre brace above the beast x to stiffen the fuz which in turn has sent the vibration to the vertical fin at the rear which is quite bad to fix this I will glue in some carbon cloth inside the fin .more wieght unfortunately but it's got to be done ,surely when ROBAN first flew there Apache for the first time it must have been the same £1500 for this kit isn't cheap and to find out you've got to figure out how to fix these this hasn't gone down well with me tbh a little disappointed to say the least having said that this is still a very very nice Heli with a lot of potential and more work with an air brush maybe a little more attention to detail this model will a head turner , I'll get some videos up as soon as I get this tail stiffened up lol

Chap at our field has one in desert colours, his also has terrible vibes and something snapped in the head last week, not sure what it was but i think Roban are going to send a whole new head, looks nice though on the ground.

Tail is very mushy on it also, unusual for V Bar,again could be the vibes.

I would be tempted to balance the blades as pairs and then fit each balanced pair opposite each other (180 deg). I think you can add tape to the root ends of blades to balance them. I'm guessing you've already tracked the main rotor blades. It does sound like a balance problem.

If you take all the blades off and run it up does it vibrate?

Shame you don't have a FBL unit with vibration analysis, it really can help narrow down where the real problem is.

Might be worth borrowing a VBar or Spirit and take it along for a flight to see what is going on and it sounds like you may be fixing the result rather than identifying the cause...

No no mate it doesn't do it with the blades off I will certainly try balancing them just to give you an idea of how bad it is , if you stand behind the Heli and watch the main blades spin at full throttle they are nearly an inch wide shocking to say the least

Are you talking about a track split of an inch? If they need tracking then you are going to have to put 4 different coloured bits of tape on the blade tips and track it. Identify blades flying high and adjust the pitch change rods from the swashplate to the blades to bring the high blades back into the pack. I would still also balance the blades aswell before you carry out tracking so at least you've got opposing weights correct.

I guess you have the version 2 mechanics (metal head), someone else had the same problem with vibration in there Apache, in the end they found the problem, it was the blade grip bolts starting to come loose, apparently Roban used the wrong type of loc-tight on them.

                        That's not good ...

Would also explain the large tracking error as well perhaps?

Tends to reenforce the general advice about always disassembling and rebuilding any preassembled parts...

Id love to know the person who's got one of these models so I could speak to him and find out if the tail was vibrating as bad as this one ,as iam aware there's only one or two in the country unless it's gone abroad some place this model with version 2 mechanics and the mechanics on the head are spot on its the tail where the vibration is bad it's seems to little better as i stiffened it with 5 layers of carbon cloth yesterday will add more today and also balance the blades

Chap at DMHC has one with SM2 mechanics, carbon frames, metal swash,4 blade metal head etc,had feathering shaft issue plus a bolt sheared in it.

Horizontal tail fin vibes apallingly bad,i think he has glued it up or something, rockets vibe bad also, tail is all over the place too, dont think he is on here though but i know Roban are trying to sort his out.

Oh this isn't very encouraging. I was under the impression the Roban range were all spot on and that's why they're worth the money over a cheaper setup. Doesn't really sound the case judging by the posts here.
