Yo Peeps,
I seem to have got a couple of 'fun-scale' 500's - one is an EC135 and the other an Agusta 109 - both Align GRP shells I think, sort of cheap and nasty really, but pretty red and white bodyshells
Anyway both have got basic 500 FB helis inside them, and fly OK Ish, but I wonder if there are some words of wisdom out there that could help?
First to fly was the EC135, nice & stable but the tail was pitifully weak..is this just the gyro fighting the extra mass / drag of the GRP shell? I fitted some 550 or 600 tail blades and it improved it quite a bit.
The Agusta tail is also dreadfully weak.. I'm not trying 3D just a fast climbout, but the tail comp is pathetic.
On the EC135 I fitted wide-chord assymetric main blades so I could lower the headspeed, but of course, that weakened the tail RPM / authority.
So what do people do on these fun-scale thingys to make them fly reasonably nippy - not piro-flips, but just nice nimble and flyable?
All wisdom gratefully received!
Cheers
