This is one of the few weaknesses of the FL system, but in fairness, the RM tracking numbers are really quite useless as for the most part they do not update until after delivery so all you can confirm is that the package is 'in the system' somewhere.

I ordered something from FL yesterday, paid for special delivery and nothing today I had a shipped notice from them yesterday so I assume it did go, but this is the first time in a long while that I have had a problem with Royal Mail Also waiting on an order from midland from yesterday, so I'm assuming it's RM being crap at my end...

Special delivey dont work at weekends jamie unless you specificaly paid for the special saturday service which is extra. I found that out the hard way myself. your more likely to get a saturday delivery with 1st class post if buying stuff on a friday.

It is the responsibility of the seller to get it to the customer with distance selling, as such use the cheapest option that suits your delivery deadline. if it does not arrive then no matter what postage option you chose its not your problem. the shop takes all the risk as you can get you cash back from the credit card, they charge back the seller.
generally unless I have chosen next day delivery I wait a week until contracting the seller to ensure it was dispatched and on what day. you can then work out when to start moaning...

If the vendor offers it people will use it as the responsibility for safe delivery stays with the vendor not the customer.

It will take longer to resolve if something goes wrong and you've used a basic 1st class mail service but as the customer the only thing you'd lose is time not money so some people will decide it is worth the risk.

Fair point. I'm surprised that the vendor is prepared to take that risk.

The only time I've had a non-signed-for package go missing was one sent to work. I didn't bother chasing it, as for all I know it went missing in our post-room. I couldn't prove that's not what happened, and I couldn't see I could reasonably argue that was the vendor's responsibility.

Ordered some MCPx feathering shafts on Thursday lunch, recorded delivery, and they still haven't turned up

Steve G had an Oops moment that bent his FS, straightened it with a pair of pliers, back in, perfect. Failing that it's just a long bolt innit ? I'd like to here of a cheap fix for these little spares problems.
