  • Setting up the new Spektrum 2.4

    Hi all,

Story so far i crashed, broke main frame and several other parts, re- ordered all new parts and replacing all analoge to Digital.

My spektrum TX as arrived but still waiting on reciever and gyro just wondering the best way to start setting up shall i copy all my setting over from futaba radio now to the new speky while waiting as all my servos are in the same position as before or do i start from scratch once the other new parts arrives?

    Thanks

Personally I would wait until you get your Rx and gyro and then set up from scratch.

I found that, when I upgraded my DX6i to a DX7, the settings were totally different even between radios from the same manufacturer. Had I have attempted to fly using the DX6i settings, I think it would have ended in tears.

I should also point out that I was using precisely the same machine (my 500), Rx, gyro, servos etc. All I had changed was the Tx.

No worries. I know how it is. I need to feel that I'm doing something to progress the build/repair whilst waiting for bits too.

Which Tx did you go for? There's nothing to stop you from setting up a new blank model in the model memory tho. Give it a name, perhaps even set-up the swash type etc. I'd just not bother doing the gyro settings, pitch or throttle curves and the like.

          Hi Mart,

The tx is a SPEKTRUM DX7 and a AR7000 DUAL LINK RECEIVER that as just arrived just waiting on the ALIGN GP780 Head Lock Gyro to arrive maybe next week now

I will read the manual between the 10 hour afternoon shift later on to get a feel for the transmitter then start programming cant wait.

I have the same Tx as you and the Rx is also on my 600 and about to be fitted to the 700. Why the hold-up on the 780? Can ya not cancel and re-order from elsewhere?

Perhaps even cancel and get the Spartan Quark?

I have no personal experience of the 780. However, I have read a few tales of woe on here. As you'll see below, whilst some criticise it, others support it:

I'm sure you'll be fine. There's a wealth of help and support available on here if you run into trouble too.

I only asked cos, if you'd have bought it from say Fast Lad or any other reputable dealer, they'd have let you swap the order across for something they had in stock.

Having said that FL are out of stock of the Quarks but they and several others have been knocking them out for £82 for a few weeks. I bought the Quark/DS650 combo for my 700 for £107.

Having said all this, I've not yet fitted it and so do not know how good it is...yet.

                      Thanks Mart,

Got another question for you were did you mount the seconardy reciver on the trex 450 then ive mounted the main unit on the angled battery area but puzzled were to mount the second one as im going to mount the battery underneath like its always been. on my old settup.

Im sort of thinking of adding it to the back of the main frame on one of the down pieces and sticking it to the outer side of the main frame ?

Edit Ive put it there now looks like it made to go there :-)

                      Cheers

                          Looking good!

Looks like your tail blades are the wrong way around tho! Is your tail rotor spinning the right way? It should always go anti-clockwise (when viewed from the right hand side of the heli) up into the main rotor downwash.

Sorry I didn't answer your last question - never saw it.

I only have the AR6100e on my 450 so I would have no knowledge of where to mount the satellite receiver.

                            Nice one

The satelite antennas should face the opposite ways to the Rx ones.

Better mounting the gyro underneath the boom block as you can wipe it out in a crash, flybar comes down and it's a goner. wonder how I know, mind you was a excuse to buy a better gyro.
