  • Nitro wiring from receiver pack?

I am going to make a cable from the receiver pack to power the system on a nitro, i will be using a futaba rx so can i run power from the 2s lipo battery straight to the fbl unit or is it wise to make a Y harness and go to the futaba rx aswell splitting the power? Also could i use a spectrum backplate sensor with mounting on a (105hz-r) as i am using futaba tx/rx?
    Cheers.

I used to run standard align 615 servos on cyclic, 650 tail and 650 throttle. This was all powered by an align 2-1 regulator which only has one power lead (servo type lead). While it worked if you looked at the logs the fluctuation in power delivery was over 1 volt. I swapped to a gryphon reg, again first set up was a single power lead and the voltage fluctuation was exactly the same, over 1 volt. However the way I have the gryphon set up I can have upto 4 power leads. Two leads was ok but three keeps it absolutely stable. These leads are all going into my FBL unit. Not sure if your running HV (assume you are) and if they pull more than the above aligns but I would not trust a single lead power solution. I believe you power the FBL then sbus down to the rx - been a few years since I last ran futaba though, should be an easy Google

If you're using S-Bus then that should be enough to run the Rx, I run 2 leads into the fbl unit and the S-Bus cable to the Rx, both in a 700n and 550e

I use these on all my nitros, work perfect and very good quality. You need two inputs to run an HV system really.

Same approach as George but use XT60's instead of EC3's

Yes I ditch the EC3's for RCPro D4's.

RCpro Supra D6's on 6s and the same but D4's on the 2s packs. Will be the best decision you make swapping to these Dave, they're just brilliant connectors. Check out the soldering video on YouTube mate.

I have ec3 connectors on all of my helis, are these D4's the way to go now then? Never had any issues with ec3's but my extreme hover skill won't be drawing too much load on them. I watched the video and they look excellent. It shows they lock in place while connected, is it easy enough to disconnect them or do you have to pull on the cable?

We digress from the OP's question but just as we're discussing it...there is 100% nothing wrong with EC3's or EC5's, I was using both up until recently and have not had either fail. However, swapping to the Supras was a very good decision imho, you get a lot of wire and solder into the joint, both wire and connector are held perfectly still during cooling (very important point) and they have a very solid connection when put together. They come apart relatively easily and no you don't need to pull on the wires at all to do so. You'd be very happy with them, I know that all that have converted are happy with the choice.
Only downside for me was that I had so many flipping connectors to re solder but that was completed over 2 or 3 nights!

Yes i will be using a single sbus lead from the rx to the flb unit and hv servos, i have some of these already (george j...Yes I ditch the EC3's for RCPro D4's.)

would they be ok? I use the 8-10awg on my 700, fantastic connectors and easy to solder and put together.
