  • blade SR Huey main rotor blades tightness?

    Hi.
I have just bought a Blade SR Huey. I'm building my experience up on Phoenix and smaller heli's before i take it out.
I bought it second hand and i've had to replace the front canopy and re connect the rear rotor.
My question is how tight should the main rotor blades be? One is very loose and moves under its own weight the other is a little tighter and would need to be pushed before it moved.
Sorry it's hard to explain tightness but i'm hoping i'm making sense?!
    Thanks in advance!

Tight enough so you can move them, but not so loose they move by themselves if you tilt the Heli.

They need to be able to self centre when you spool up, but stay in place when you spool down. Hopefully that makes some sense.

Hi Paula, welcome to the forum. When you do up the blade bolts make sure they are both the same tightness and as DaveJones says.

I've really confused myself this time.
I bought a Rakon set for my Blade SR Huey.
I've put it on while i was changing the rear boom and main gear that got damaged during my first flight, that all went well and i put it aside until i got more experience in flying.
Today i thought i should have a go at leveling the swash plate and i found the zip tie method on you tube. So removed the rotor head adjusted the swash plate and put it back together again.
I was feeling pretty smug and i thought i would run it up just to check its all ok and it seems somewhere along the way i have done something wrong. It's like the pitch is inverted and the more i push up on the throttle the more it pushes down and then it makes a noise like one of the servos isn't happy.
I really thought i had checked it after i put the rakon stuff on after the rebuild, but maybe i didn't.
Basically i have no idea what i've done wrong.
            Any help would be appreciated.https://youtu.be/Te3n-9-bqcQ

Does the swash move up when you apply positive pitch?

It's a good best practice after a rebuild to check the direction the swash moves in (and the tail) is correct. Positive collective = flat swash moving up, Negative collective = flat swash moving down, move cyclic (right stick) left = swash left, right = right. This is a lesson I learnt the hard way.

Also check your servo's for binding anywhere, is something coming into contact that is preventing the servo moving were it wants to go, the generally make a strained buzzing noise when this happens.

There's definitely a strained buzzing noise.
The Swatch moves down when i put the left stick up

                    Paula,

You have the grip control arms reversed. On the Blade the arm that controls the pitch of the blade grip should be orientated toward the rear of the blade. You have then facing the front of the blade which is the more common setup but not the way Blade do it.

                      Ok, that sounds simple enough.
Do i have just redo the plastic control arms or reverse something else? Sorry total novice.

Oh i think i get it.I have to flip the rotor arms over so the control arms are on the other side

Have you got a manual for the heli?
                            If not try:-
                            http://www.bladehelis.com/ProdInfo/F...-Manual_EN.pdf
You can (just about) see how the control links attach to the rear of the blade grips in the parts diagrams (page 10) near the back of the manual.
Also you can see in the diagrams on Page 6 how the Swashplate should move down as you push the collective pitch stick up (and vice versa).
                            Hope this helps.
