aghhhh my watch is faulty again :(
Automatic watches need to be worn all the time or they go wrong.

I wear my Rolex everyday for work on the building site and it's great. It worked perfect for 12 years before it started losing time and 3 years after a rebuild it's perfect.

Golf is a big no no with these watches as the impact of the club hitting the ball causes the jewel bearing to collapse.
What Rolex you got? I'm on the market for a submariner

Very simple a discrete, it looks just like a simple stainless watch, only ever had two people notice and both were watch collectors.

Park a car up for four weeks and start it drive it for 30 minutes and park it up again. Before you know it it won't start.

The mechanism is designed to move all the time allowing it to stop causes it to settle in one spot.

Just wear it why spend that on a watch and not enjoy it every day.

As long as you get them serviced reg if you dont wear them they should be fine ;)

If you dont and they keep stop and starting this is what wears them out apparently hence the rocker ;)

I like that about Rolex, not an 'in yer face' watch and most have no idea

So. Took it back to the store and its getting sent off Thursday. But I am going I write an email to the same woman I spoke to last time at Hamilton. This is what I thought about saying. Does it sound like I am been abit too much of a tw**t ? Ah or would you add or Change anything.

                  Hello
I am just emailing you to let you know that I have had to send my watch back to you again for it to be repaired .
Now I know none of this is your fault and that you gave excellent service last time and i have no doubt you will this time but it is annoying due to it only been 6 month since and that Hamilton is surposed to be a reliable watch but has Proven not to be in my case.

The issue I have been having is that the date window has been sticking and is not showing the date fully on most of the numbers.
Also that when I came to clean the watch I found that another screw had fallen out of the back That Holds the back plate on.

It has only been about 6 month since it was last sent back to you and It does not get used alot. It's just placed in a watch winder to keep it going

I am puzzled and would like to know why these screws keep coming out and to why I am now having to send it back for repair again with another fault. Due to the date function been faulty. The annoying thing is I even mentioned the date function may be faulty when I sent it off for repair the first time . I don't even have these issues from some of the cheaper brands of watches I have and they have been faultless and lasted longer. So from a reputable brand and a price tag of £1200 i think it's a joke to be honest . And a waste of time having to go back and forth to the store to send it back for repair. Especially seen as It was only 6 month ago.

                  Thanks liam

Bought my wife a new Rolex a couple of years ago, she wears it every day, it has never missed a beat, keeps perfect time, was quite expensive (£5400), I think with fancy watches it is the luck of the draw, my "cheap" Tissot (£500 approx) has been back twice for repair in 3 years

For the money you paid for a main dealer service you should have received an unconditional one years guarantee, check it out.
We arent a main dealer and we charge around a quarter of the their prices and give a six months guarantee. We wouldnt hessitate but to do this work for free.

All mechanical watches, whether wind up or automatic need to be kept going to a certain extent. Probably a wind once a week is sufficient. The reason for this is to stop the oils hardening.
Watch winders for automatics are great, but make sure it has a programmed start and stop, or if not then switch it off and on once every few days.
The last thing you want is for the automatic rotor to be turning day in day out non stop. If yours isnt programmed then put it on a timer.

The reason your screws are falling out is that they have not used loctite on them!

Thanks it's still under the 2 years manufacturers warranty so it's all going to be done for free. Last time I got 40 pound refunded but I would feel abit cheeky asking for something els back. But ten again it is only 6 month old
Thanks for the tip on the winder but I allready have it set to wind for 5 mins and then rest for 40. Keeps it wound about halfway =D
