  • Midland Helicopter Club Fly-in 8th/9th June

    Hi Everyone,

i'm really late posting this year so apologies, but it's just 3 weeks away to our fly-in and I hope many of you can join us again this year.

We hope to have our normally huge raffle, a well prepared field and even some sun......well I hope so as I have arrange for an ice cream van for you too!!

Usual catering facilities will be available and on site toilets. Campers most welcome for friday or saturday evening and we have a BBQ on site for you so just bring some burgers and charcoal.

Flying will start at 9am both days and finish at 9pm Saturday (electric only after 6pm) and all flying will finish by 6pm on Sunday. Proof of BMFA or RCHA insurance is required as usual.

Really hope to see the normal gang as well as some new faces, so roll call time.....who's coming??????????

For sure, last years weather was so awful we had to move the date twice!
I know a few guys are considering coming after Grass Roots and you are most welcome to camp/caravan or if you need details of local places to stay just let me know.
I'm sure the Midlands guys will be with us along with the regular crew of visitors so it should be a blast and we're starting to prepare the field now so it should be immaculate by the time you guys arrive.
Sponsor are coming good too which is amazing in this current climate. I only emailed them last night and already I have had positive responses from some of them so we are very grateful for their support and should have the usual big raffle.

look forward to seeing all who can make it

          Cheers
          D

So sorry for that, last night was a late one

              We are Midlands based not far from Tamworth and about 5 mins from Junction 9 of the M42/A42....full directions are as follows;

MIDLAND HELICOPTER CLUB - Flying Field Directions

              Grid reference: 52°37’36.13”N 1°34’08.48”W

              From the M42/A42

              • Exit the Motorway at Junction 11 and follow the A444 towards Twycross and Nuneaton. Passthrough Appleby Magna and continue towards Twycros
              • Turn right at the junction just before Twycross Zoo sign posted to Orton-on-the-Hill.
              • Continue on the lane until the crossroads and go straight across it.
              • At the next junction Orton-on-the-Hill will be on your left. Bear right at this junction.

              • Follow the road for 1 mile and the field entrance is on your left hand side made obvious by the concreted entrance and steel gates. If you reach Warton village you have passed the entrance by 400 meters.

The field will be signposted from the junction on the A444 near Twycross Zoo on the day of our Fly-in.

              From the M1

              • Exit the M1 at Junction 21 and follow the M69.

              • Exit the M69 at Junction 1 (second junction in your direction of travel) and turn right onto the A5 towards Hinckley and Nuneaton.
              • Stay on the A5 for just under 6 miles then exit right onto the A444 towards Twycross.
              • Follow the A444 for just over 7 miles and turn left just after Twycross Zoo sign posted to Orton-on-the-Hill.

Our pleasure Alex and congratulations on passing your B Test. It was good for us to be able to offer you some help and it's always nice to have visitors from other clubs fly with us.
As Saturday is normally a little quieter than Sunday, if there is anyone wishing to take an A or B test and would like to do that with us then please let me know. It will obviously be subject to numbers and how busy we are on the day but we would try to help if at all possible.
