  • Spektrum binding question..

    Quick question if I may..
I have just been testing some servos on the bench with a spekky AR8000 and a DX8.
Picked a spare model, did the bind, which looked fine - orange RX light flashed, then went solid.
But no response at all from the servos, although they were obviously getting a signal as they moved to centre and resist being moved by hand, just no response to the sticks.
Repeated a few times with no luck.
Then I plugged in a sat, did the bind again (both orange lights flash then solid) - and now the servos respond just fine.
Is this expected behavoir? Is it normal to bind OK without a sat but not respond? Some fail-safe mechanism?
Or just something I have overlooked / forgotten....
    Cheers all

      Spektrum binding question..

Ar8000 requires the satellite to operate, as far as I know.
      Certainly mine does.

        OK thats interesting, thanks!
Is that normal for Spekkie, or special to the AR8000?
I'm sure with other Spekkie receivers, I have found they work with and without, provided the bind is done with / without?
        Thanks again,

Ar8000 is a full range rx, so will require sat.

Yeah - as above. Seems the norm.
            Here's an example:

You need the sat connected for the AR8000 to initialise (or bind) properly, but if the satellite fails after that, for example, in flight; the main unit will operate on it's own.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Common sense would say it should keep blinking to say 'I'm not happy to bind'...
                Taa again, nice one.

Thanks, that makes sense, I'm just surprised to see the bind light without a sat.
