  • First flying session in a gym

Last night (Sunday) I meet Pip at a local air bases Gym for a good ole fly up.

In total there was five of us, the other chaps were all top blokes and took time to explain curves while demonstrating on a Trex 450 with a member moving the parts to show what the parts do in different set ups.

In ten minutes I learned more about this game then all the reading over the last 5 months.

I got a chance to fly my Blade CX2 high up in the rafters and in total I had five 10 minutes flights which was blinding, it's so much different flying in a large indoor area as drafts and the shear air space makes for some interesting flying I hadn't experienced before.

As was watching the others fly everything from little hotrod Dragonflys, amazing little flyer's, we even had a slight mid air collision, but after a five minute repair the birds were up again.

I also watched a couple of Trex 450's in the air which was amazing, plus a chap was practicing on his HBK2, which looked like a super stable flyer, and nothing like the tail twitcher version they have on Phoenix, again well impressive.

I'm sure Michael won't mind me saying as the deal is all settled, but I wont be buying a Blade 400 now, I'm buying one of he's Trex 450's with the DX6 comptroller, as he said it's a far more advanced heli, plus coming from him I'd know its in excellent condition, but he had it there last night, so I even had a chance to see her fly even before I knew it was going up for sale, to say I'm well pleased is an understatement, the bird looks practically brand new.

Anyway I just wanted to say thanks to all who made me very welcome, and for pip who organized and made my visit possible.

    Cheers guys.

A few shots from last night.

(soon to be my new Bird, Yaaaaay!)

Yes mate I've just been to your gallery's, was she yours at one point? if so at least I know she's had two good owners.

I never thought I'd end up with an Align heli at this point, I know you guys have always said if you can buy a second hand one as a first chopper it's the best way for starting, or at least one of the best ways.

Today call me a kid I know, I've been checking up on all the spare parts and blown up diagrams of the build, having seen one in the flesh now the rota head I have to say looks daunting, but I'll have fun learning where all the parts go as time goes on.

Cool cheers mate, it's nice to now I'll be owning a heli that flyers here have had, and that it's been well loved.

I know if I have any diffuclities Mike would help out, but she seemed to fly good last night, I know Pip said a few things needed setting up better, but that's all part of the fun.

yep it needed setting up when it left me. i put a couple of wheel collets on the flybar to make it more stable. dunno if there still on i cant tell from the pic!!. but they help. better tail servo would improve it aswell.
but its a good flying heli and will certainly do you well for learning flying and tweeking and with a dx6 sweet!!

Great stuff mate, I've just seen your change of wording, I'll promise she'll have a good home here in the Fens with me.

As for the Gyro and other bits I can upgrade then as I go on, the main thing is I've a blinding heli to learn how to fly properly on, which I'm sure is the best route to start.

I fear here will be her final home, even when I start building my Trex 500 I can't imagine I'd sell her on.
