it feels like current new nitro engines fire up right out of the box
that few adjustments cant be that hard

after all its not like fine tuning a formula 1 car

Hehe apologies for starting possible yet another nitro vs leccy argument. Not my intention

I have to admit I'm really enjoying the ease of leccy flying, but I still stand by original argument Nitro may cost pennies more in the long run, but with a large capacity flight pack, you can fly all day. To do that with leccy, you need a generator and/or lots of packs which adds up to a huge investment.

By fiddling, I don't necessarily mean just tuning. I'm good at getting a ballpark tuning, but I always seem to be looking for the cause of vibrations etc. Or is that an ElyQ thing perhaps?

It may be partly a YS thing. When I had a 91SR in my Avro it would shake like crazy until it revved up a bit. I have an OS91 in it now and there's less vibes but I do need to fit some foam between the front and rear canopies because it rattles in a very annoying way when it's idling.

Not sure how a Nitro "Hang's" better in the air than an electric lol
My experience of flying both and my opinion LOL And if you're not sure why comment LOL

Good point, I've noticed that on my 90 I think. My 50 vibes so much the FBL kicks to the left some times. The OS55 is still running at 1.5turns on both needles so very rich still as it's new. Could that cause such vibe levels?

1.5 turns on a 55 isn't so rich Harry especially the mid, I would say thats fine for the minute

Cool it's had 5 or so tanks through it so I'll close them up to 1.25 and give it another go. I'll just make sure I don't pick a really cold day to try it again!

I wouldn't go too far with the mid Harry it doesn't need to be lean to dfelivcer and the result could be no fuel when you need it and a very quiet engine could be the result.

Read this before you go too lean in the mid Harry

That Fusion really does suit you Harry and stop being so modest with you're only doing sports flying, you're progress is great mate!!

Thanks for this mate, I've just read the whole thread. I'll open them both back up to 1 1/2 turns and go from there.

engine choice.... YS = ball ache.... OS = Funtime

how much time do you see me fiddling with the engine... I like the plug and play but its still for me miles off flight times and thats what matters so for me I aint spending £1k on batts..

Nitro to me is more enjoyable...but thats my choice. :-)
                          Cheers

Nitro for me too.but electric has its place and for competition pilots electric is brilliant.
Personally i think nitro is unbeatable for fun at the field and we don't spend much time at all tuning.

I do agree with you Harry, they can be a bit temperamental, but when they are in the air, it's....just different.

For me, I rather fiddle with my engine, than those big lipos the night before I go flying.
Only need a decent charger & psu and charge up while your loading the car
