I dont know which side of bournemouth you are, but there is DMHC to the west, and beaulieu to the east. Beaulieu is only £5 a year if you have BMFA insurance. I dont think DMHC have a waiting list at the moment. There were places available when I went to the fly in this summer.

Unfortunately its the actions (or lack of them) of the few, that give dog owners a bad rep, like the mouthy **** who told me to be more careful with my son after he was knocked over by his dog, off his lead, in a park which has signs up everywhere saying dogs must be kept on a lead. If I had my way ****s like this would be put in a tiger pen (without tiger leads) and see how they get on.

Thank you for the input. Certainly looks like best case is fly at a club with a field specific for model flying. Thank you for the suggestions Jimmy, looking into them now. Hopefully it works out that it is local and others fly frequently. Seems there is always a risk of a dog or owner getting in the way though. If in doubt it is worth eyeing up a tree to aim for if all goes bad before taking off, not a nice prospect though.

I wasn't concerned about damage to my battery in this case. More that if the voltage reached LVC then It would be coming down one way or another. I guess I could have kept it up for as long as I could though which would have reduced the head speed right down. Too much to think about whilst looking for the owner, with a man and two dogs running around, near trees, in the wind and with my timer beeping away.

Should I post the video? I have uploaded it but kept it private for now.

I think I'd be inclined to land the model as safely as possible, and try and keep the dog away from it - for its own safety.

If the dog attacks me while tryinmg to get at the model (and we're assuming it's not some kind of half-wolf) it, then the owner is in trouble - too bad. Wear boots. It's a dangerous dog out of control. Next time it could rip some kid's face off.

All of this assumes you're flying somewhere you're entitled to, and you're being reasonable. Obviously you don't want some kind of incident that loses the flying site; but the dog owner is in the wrong - and you do have insurance.

In some respects, it's important that we assert ourselves - within reason.

I was privileged to see a certain heli-god of this parish deal with a similar situation by boffing a tiresome dog with an inverted 700. Dog and owner suddenly saw the error of their ways and ****ed off quick.

I'd just fly inverted over the dog slowly.

Unfortunately where we fly, although it's a club site, it's also on public land. It's right on the coast also, so we get a lot of dog walkers. Most aren't a problem but you do get some idiots. Don't get me wrong; they have as much right to be there as we do. I just wish they'd show the same level of common sense that we do when we fly. Like Carapau said at the field: they're helicopters. How can people not realise how dangerous they are?!

I dont know how people can be so oblivious of the danger. I also cant believe how the owners can show no concern towards their pets. I know its only a 450 but its still fairly load and powerful. One woman remarked how her dog (Jack Russel would rip it apart if it got hold of it. How stupid can you be. Pretty sure the heli would be ripping her dog apart. I would not like to imagine what would happen if a small dog like this got struck in the head with a head speed of 3000RPM.

Here is the video, I will make it private again if it gets bad press. Ffhhfg - YouTube

I shortened it before the discussion with the owner. The man seen inst the owner of either dog, just someone who was kind enough to try and help.
