My favorite flybarless blades are Rails, they are superb!! They have a custom airfoil that maintains ultra low drag making them very efficient as well as an aggressive lift coefficient which gives plenty of "Pop" for snappy collective and cyclic changes yet still give an all round smooth and precise feel.

Up until going flybarless and trying Rails my blade of choice for my flybarred machines was Radix, either the Standard or SB (Stick Banger) versions depending on the machine. On my N5 the Radix 600SB really suited it well.
    Thanks!

No problems with Align 3G seconds here, as said they all turn to dust and splinters when they go in

I also find a lot less difference between blades on the 450 compared with bigger helis. I have a Beam E4 and have used the standard Radix, Align 325 D,F and 3G and the 'Pro 3D' brand which you can get in 325 and 335.
Right now I have the Align 325D Pros on it and they fly quite similar to the Radix. I kinda liked the Align 3G blades even though the Beam is flybarred but I crunched the pair I had and have not replaced them. I'll probably put the Pro 3Ds on next time out as I think they're just slightly heavier.

I have in my collection Radix v1s and v2s Spins Sabs and Align 3G...but the ones I really like are the DH 711s...as long as the blade is about 190 grams they are good for me.....

what blades do use and why

I've always tried to work out what I want from a blade then go out and choose one to suit. On a flybared machine this was double important as a lot of the flight tendencies of your blade choice cannot be tuned out. Eg. On a 600n FB machine putting 3G blades on ( heavy, outboard fbl blade) would make it track on rails for fast big sky flying at the expense of snap, pop and roll rate. Where as radix 600 sb (light, inbound CG ) were fantastic to get that snap in tick tick type manoeuvres at the expense of flying straight in big sky manoeuvres ).

Now I've moved to FBL then choice is still important but with the right FBl unit and good servos some characteristics can be tuned out.

I find that lighter FB blades suit my thirst for a heli that will snap faster than I can think in hard cyclic reversals and I will live with and fly around their ability to track.

Once you get past the no name blades ( and some of them are good just harder to sort the wheat from the chaff) most do the job quite well and you are better off spending the time setting up the fbl unit to suit your style.

After writing all this nonsense. On my TRex se v2 450 with mks 95/95i vbar combo my blade of choice is the standard align 450d. And I buy cosmetic seconds at that. Snappier than a snap dragon on Acid and about the same performance (as a drugged up dragon) in a straight line and autos.

              Hope that helps

I'm a learner as well, with a 450 SE V2. Where would you recommend to buy Align 450d cosmetic seconds from?

I doubt there's anyone with a favourite blade that has actually tried all the brands..
On my really expensive two models that get flown more carefully i do use better variants but since I'm never going to be a 3d God I'm content to smash the cheap 3D Pro blades from HK for a third the price.
I once got through 3 pairs of Scott Grey Rotortechs in a season...must be about £135 a pair these days: look and fly great on my gasser but the wallet pain is just too much..

I mostly use Edge blades but I have SAB's on my mini protos (450) and Goblin and I do like how they fly.
On my dune (600) I currently have some Rails to try out but I also have Radix V2 and Edge blades to try on it as well!

now lets see I have done nhp, sab , edge , rotor tec , align ,TG's , radix, Kddb ,spin , and I am sure I have forgoten some ;-)

I like Spin nlades for blade noise, and they are cheap, but they don't crash as well as edge which are more expensive , as in they buckle in a minor groundstrike such as a tip over at the end of a streched auto.

Edge score well on this point as do Radix
I have just tried NHP Agressors on my rave and whilst I had to sand the roots slightly as they wouldn't fold in the grips, they are awesome massive auto performance whilst feeling light and nimble .

Spin worked very well on my 450 X blade and asr far better than edge or stock blades on this model .

Just remember its all down to personal opinion and pocket size !!!

Radix on my 700 and evo 50, Edge on my 500, and align on my 450.

I have used NHP and Sabs before as well.
