I don't know how folks fly the 450s in winds.
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

When the blue light is flashing I am kidding.

Why simplify when it is so much simpler to complicate.

Ooooo, you had to do it, point me like a hunting dog at the target. So, I went and I looked and I found that the Align 600efl is designed to take two of the batteries that lurk in my 500efl. You flippin' devil!!!! (Psst: thank you ).

I can see now the collateral damage this thread is leading too :-). 500 owners to 600 and 550 to 700 ;-)

Since I go flying with my bicycle ( ok, that sounded strange). Since I pack my flying gear on to my bicycle and cycle to the flying field I'd have a job fitting a 600 on my bike.

howeverrrrrrr, fitting bike wheels on a 600.......

The battery path puts me off too. How many minutes, I wonder, would 3000mAh give me on a 550. Will have a look at 5000mAh costs later.
Hi, 3000's would be no good on the 550 as you will never get the heli to balance properly.

Even with 5000's its not perfect. I think it was Tye at PMHC who had to put about 160g of lead in the nose of his, or it might of been Ronnie??

            Nice one Alastair btw

My 500efl is flying no problem with 3000mAh. If I go bigger I'd never get the canopy on. I'm sure the instructions suggested 2600-3000mAh batteries.

oops lol, that was meant to say 550 not 500. Edited

Just strap the 600 to the back and go idle up!

Thanks Ben.. I have some Turnigy nano-techs and they seem to make the COG spot on as long as I don't push them too far back on the tray.

                      hey vikki
nice to see you back on forum. why dont you get one of them kids bike trailers that you see about easy to convert to helicopter transport they even have a cover on them to keep them nice and dry. I fly a 550e flybarless using turnigy 5000mah and even though am only doing gentle flying my timers set to 7.30 mins and still land with 30% left in battery not bad for £45 from germany

I am looking at a trailer but I need to be sure it will go through some restrictions on my route. I've checked the width of my trike and it goes through ok so I need one less than that. It also needs to go on my trike and my bike. Problem: Trike would fit to rear wheel quick release but can't on the bike since the motor is on the back wheel so would connect to the seat stem. I'll see what I can sort out

Ok so I got some time at the weekend to get out to the field and fly the 550 in open space. It was the usual 10-15mph wind up here and with this heli I did not even notice. No issues at all for this flight. Put two packs through and a couple of mins into the first one it was so easy to fly and the size factor disappeared(ish). Love it!

Only thing I noticed was if I did a pitch pump it was slower to move upwards than my 450 pro (running the 550 at 2250rpm governed). Maybe I need to tweak the 3GX a little. Have to do some research and playing with parameters.

Anyways just a little video (8's not a clean as normal as was using too much rudder and still a bit chicken flying this)
