Probably not the time nor the post to mention it but I do feel the forum has lost it's sense of humour somewhat. The banter of a few years ago has gone just in case anyone upsets another member.

Sadly youre right Davey, I cant be find the enthusiasm to brighten and educate this forum with my wordcraft lately as it always seems to upset someone!

Must admit waveyDavey that I have never been that competitive if I want a G4 or whatever I will buy myself one. What realy rubs is advice from this forum is free, I used to be able to honestly help people & they would be grateful by offering a thanked post. Since Stuart's offered up this reputation competition people seem to no longer offer their thanks unless you talk & post nonsense. I can see exactly how these nonsense posts could annoy people enough to comment in the way jwatts has done. I'd go so far to say at the moment you couldn't even buy a thanked post & the only way people are getting them is via private forums that are out of sight

Sadly this is the problem with forums in that the posts are faceless words ( until you've met lol) and its very easy to come across the wrong way or be taken out of context. I haven't met mr watts but I have been on the receiving end of one of his comments and more recently of his generosity too so please bare in mind that some people have a different approach to humour than others.

Vicki, don't take things to heart, ignore and rise above comments that would otherwise upset you and maybe reply with the odd cutting remark yourself. That goes for everyone else, for the last year or two theres been nothing but pussyfooting around just in case you upset them by saying your heli is better than theirs. It's a fooking hobby and a superb forum that we all like to hang out on. Don't take things to heart, if you do, I have, be big enough to say sorry, swallow your pride and get on with it. Jesus!!!

Oh, by the way John Watts is one of the nicest fellas I've had the pleasure of meeting. Sometimes comes across the wrong way but forums do that on occasions

just a small point, NOT to upset anyone but i fly with JWATTS and he can come across a bit funny on here but he has a very big heart and i im having a bad time myself at the moment with wife problems ( got kicked out sort of, not to go in to that.) my point is he has rang me every day for the last 10 days just to make sure im ok. thanks JW. as others have said on here that texes ect can be read wrong ect. i read some of the posts JW put up and i think opps that going to be read in the wrong way. he does like to say it as it is and some dont like that, my point being we are all different and not all of us will get on its a shame but thats life. myself i just dont post, if i dont like i dont read simples ps i was at the RCHA and i think i got on with all that i meet i hope lol

Longer standing members will know that I've had my share of contraversial moments on here. Sometimes I write replies that are mis-interpreted, something sounded funny in my head but by the time it appeared on the screen I could see how people were upset by it, but I'll always hold my hands up and apologise if I'm out of line. However while I dont mind a good bun fight and admit I'll often go verbaly toe to toe for the sake of giving folk a few laughs, I've never gone for anyone that hasn't brought it on themselves.

Sadly there isnt much humour here these days, it started with the appointment of certain over enthusiastic mods that dont understand farce, satire, irony, sarcasm, or even the concept of banter but I digress, thats a whole different argument for another day. The thing is that if youre going to come on here and "be funny" then give it a go, there's many different ways of doing it but in my opinion attacking the eccentricities of a single person who's never courted controversy or been provokative is a pretty cheap way of getting a laugh from a very limited audience.
Whatever you think of women addicts in general or specificly Vikkis threads I dont think it warranted Jwatts007's caustic post.

Can I just let you know Vikki is alive and well, I spent the Afternoon flying with Newton and Harry(which are not Junk by any stretch of the imagination) Nr Havent on a breezy Mussi cow field as Vikki liked to call them. Vikki is well and as previous post has said she is staying away to get some of her life back as it got to addictive for her. I'm sure some people like not sitting on the fence and saying it how it is, and some people like the constant back chat, and i'm all for it, but at the cost of a forum member leaving that's just bullying!!!

For some reason, people don't seem to have any self control on here. If you don't like a person's posts, don't read them, or comment on them, or more importantly dig at them in another thread. Live and let live and all that. One of the best things I've done lately is to take a step back from this hobby and forum, and let everything chill, life's too short for arguments about someone elses posts on a forum!

As posted earlier Vikki has mild aspergers with which she suffers OCD this is the reason she left because of the need to sit an constantly refresh the page an wait on replies an she felt it was beginning to rear it head an possibly resurrect her past OCD's. I don't fully understand aspergers nor OCD so cannot comment

As for jwatts comment maybe it was un called for or maybe it was a mis-interpreted joke either way I don't think Vikki took too much offence but it did bite a little, as she expressed to me it made her realise she was hooked on the watching for new posts. I don't know jwatts but I did read it as a dig rather than a joke again not my place to judge his personality.

I like this forum an don't really post often I just like to read and learn it seems generally nice an is a laugh when you lot poke fun at each other.

Imo I think unless you know somebody well, reading peoples thoughts and humour is always going to leave room for context issues.

This is my last post and it's an explanation of how my brain works:

Let me tell you of some of the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder issues I've had to deal with, it took me years to learn to control them:
If I turned to the left I would then have to turn to the right twice then once more to the left to balance it up, that didn't include walking in the street, say, standing in the kitchen and turning to get something. I used to twitch my nose 4 times as to a 4 beat bar. I counted 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 as I stirred tea or coffee because I was counting beats in a bar and my current interest was composing music. If I tapped with a right finger then it was two on the left and another on the right. I'm sure this sounds hysterically funny to some of you but it was far from funny to me. And - I'm not an extreme case either.


I managed to get away from OCD but it does resurface now and again. Constantly refreshing a web page is one I don't want to take root. Sadly OCD can occur on its own or comes as a surprise prezzie with Aspergers. Bumholes but I got it both ways. See, humour is my defence that keeps me going. Alternative doesn't bear thinking about. Design engineers sail close to the Aspergers wind and most if us are in there. It's where the focus comes from but that focus can be knocked on to something else.


With Aspergers there might be thirty mental disorders encompassed in there and a sufferer could have ten in any combination.


I have:


Minor OCD.
Fear of rejection.
Fear of social gatherings.
Highly focussed interests. That's a good one, but expensive.
Over sensitivity in fight/flight reflex.
Fear of being alone. Which is at odds with fear of social gatherings.
Poor emotional control. I have to work hard to keep level but I manage for the most time. But easily pleased/easily depressed.
Internal child where my behaviour is that of a child during a meltdown episode.


You think you're dealing with a normal, everyday rational adult but you're not. You're dealing with someone who has an almost invisible mental illness that isn't apparent until triggered. You know what, once triggered I don't have a snowball's chance in hell of defending myself because the child just wants to get away, to escape, IT'S BLIND BLOODY PANIC! It mostly lasts 2-3 days, mostly. Did you know I have a terrific memory for movie quotes? I have a trick memory.


I'm not stupid. I went to Newfoundland twice to tune the PLC program that made our 2.5MW, 4011V generators work with the Hibernia Oil Rig. They didn't want to use a load share module and I had to write part of the program to detect when load levels changed requiring the addition or removal of 1 of the 5 generators. Why do companies employ a 'nutter' like me? Because I think outside the box. I don't think like every one else. I designed and built a Sub-capillary pressure monitor for measuring the pressure at the patient-bed interface and it had to be accurate to 2mmHg. We took it to Oddstock Hospital for appraisal and they asked me and my boss to wait. Two hours later they came back and said "Many companies have tried to make these and failed, we'd like to be the first to congratulate you on your success." I did it by thinking laterally. I got a nice bonus too and the boss bought me my first Roland keyboard.


The list goes on but I think you get the idea.


So, telling me to pull myself together is seeds cast on barren ground because I don't have the mental faculties to do that. I'm NOT normal. The price I pay for my ability to design electronics and write programs is an expensive one. I would rather not have paid it but nature doesn't give you a choice.


Most people around me find me helpful and likeable. I probably don't come over the same way when I write. Some people find me distant and quiet. I'm at my most normal with people I like.


For the most part I'm quite normal but underneath I'm just, well the politest I heard it put was highly eccentric.


Now if you don't mind, I have an obsession to break. ��������

I would suggest. While not to everyone's tastes, a lot of people have enjoyed reading what she has to say. Those that don't like her style should just ignore the posts and keep their mouths shut, instead we have lost someone who was made a huge positive contribution to the site.

Not being funny,, but as Vikki was so active on the forum (meant in a nice way),
if you were to ignore the threads that she posted on,,
there would not be anything to read...
