I got into this hobby at the start of next year, but for one reason or another I've not had that much chance to get up to Eagle RC Heli Club to progress my flying skills. Up until today all I have managed to do is lots, and I mean LOTS of tail in hovering...never quite having the guts to send her on her way and get into what had definitively become the very illusive forward flight.
The weather this morning was perfect and I had a spare few hours so I thought, what the heck, I'll go for it. I hovered a tank just to get my hand back in and had a couple of go's at a circuit but chickened out at the last minute. I was determined that today was going tom be the day so I fueled her back up and got her into the hover and then turned the nose to the left and off she went into a steady right hand circuit...not the prettiest, but definitely a full circuit...my heart was pounding but I finally did it...I have entered the world of forward flight. The only thing wrong was that there was nobody else there to see it, and then it started raining so i had to pack up!
I feel chuffed to bits and can't wait to do it again...

, I smashed the bloody thing again. Just lost orientation, as the tail wasn't keeping up with the inputs I was giving????? I then realised, I had set the tail servo limits to 50% to stop the tail slider binding, DDDOOOHHH, what a dick ( less haste, less waste). I was quite prepared to launch the Tx, lipos, mangled Gaui, everything into the sea, but it was a bit of a walk and I had calmed down by the time I got there. The 7 fags at once may have helped. I am still wondering how you ever learn to fly these confounded things, without spending a fortune every flight. I was promised a buddy lead, by a friend(so, I didn't bother buying one), only to find it had stereo jacks on it, hence my solo ummmmm, solo eerrrrrr, just my solo really, can't really call it a flight, as such, per say, as it were!!
