I'd have thought it would be impossible to break the clutch this way. Are you sure this wasn't the problem in the first place?

turning over a hydrolocked engine isnt going to do anything to your clutch.

Like electrisceadu says, your problem likely lies in your engine. Conrod is the first candidate. Incidentally my sister managed to do that in a fiat panda with a proper hydrolock, driving through a 'puddle'.

conrod, and rest of the internals fine, only thing i thought could cause this was the gallon of fuel coming out of the pipe when i took it off.

the engine was turning over then clunk, and it would turn no more...

            Don't think it's the Dynatron's fault.

This happened on my N5 with a cheap Irvine starter. I guess the synergy isn't that robust in all areas
              Cheers

To me it sounds like the clutch had failed and then dropped into a place to jam up the engine.
Spent fuel in the exhaust is normal. I moved an old hattori pipe this weekend that hadn't been on a heli in over 6 months and it promptly spat old fuel all over the shop.

How would a cheap starter, break the clutch?
