there's no cost here, the main system is geared at 13-1, 162T main gear, 12-13T pinion.
The lower kv I believe is because they have geared to favour 6S rather than 4S. The initial gearing favoured 4S.
i can't decide on servos. hs 81/82 is not ball raced and nor is the 5082 i was going to plump for. 9257's imo are just not enough torque. i was going to get 9650's but the more i read how weak the gears and cases are the more i think i'll just get the 5245 hitecs.
Thats the problem with these in between helis, it's not a micro so micro servos are to fragile for it. it's also not full size so full size servos are to big & heavy for it.
My opinion for what it's worth is dont buy it untill suitable gear is available & at an affordable price.
I still dont see the point of 500 size helis

Far East is no cheaper,Align UK and Robbe have again set a realistic price,i would probably get one from Mr Models when he eventually gets some..
I would go for the GF one as i am not fussed about Carbon and like the silver, both are just as vunerable in a crash and there is no weight saving with Align showing both kits as 1700grms flying weight
The hs 82s seem a bit of a copout and are smaller than the 9650,the 5245`s are a bit slow,,but the 9650 is a bit expensive over here..
I would probably source 9650`s from Hong Kong at £30 quid each as opposed to £60 over here approx...

hmmmmm,the cogs are whirring
Good post and exactly what was going through my mind..
i'm in the process of ordering 9650's from ricks right now but i'm tempted to get the hitecs. they are only slightly slower but offer more torque than the 9650's. now some sites say they are 0.15 and some 0.12 at 6v so take your pick.
Yep,with the current range of available servos i would opt for 9650`s on cyclic and 9257 on tail..
A question for Ash or an experienced leccy person..
Ideally you would use 2 identical 3s Lipos but i assume there is no harm for say using a Revo 2100 and an Electrolite 2200 to make a set,or a new revo 2100 with another Revo 2100 that has had a fair few cycles,is this a fair statement?
