The 3300s problem is weight, I'm not going to bother running it again. Instead I shall be buying a 2S 3300 and then I have two 5S 3300s to play with. 5S 3300 16T was so much nicer.

Well after uping the pinion to the 13T I took the 500 to the field this morning, got to keep the headspeed very high or the wobble is still present but when the headspeeds there its totally smooth.
had to up the expo a little as it really becomes very responsive, also had to turn the gain down on the spartan a little but after that it flew great
ran 3 sets of battries through it 2100's and I think im gonna be able to push it to 4.5 mins, the last set I forgot to set the countdown and got so into it forgot the time....ooops, well charging the packs now so hopefully ive not done them too bad the cellpro was showing down to 5%
anyway thanks for the help guys. All the best
Tony.

little update guys, me, stu and barney got quite a bit of 500 flying done today (video should be about laters) and some more pack testing, well, i done the pack testing those 2 flew what they had but, it all helps.
setup was a 16t running 5s revo pack in 3200, 3300 and 4200 sizes respectively.
3200-this setup is nice as the entire weight it on the top tray and the heli rolls like my synergys do with the weight up there, balance it is a little tail heavy now which suits me fine as can move the packs forward if need be. flying wise i flew for 4.30 mins and performance was i would say slightly down on the 6s 3200 performance, but only very slightly. you don't really feel any weight saving over the 6s 3200's while flying. pack came off the heli very cool so no amp worries.
3300-again the weight is up high as before on the top tray so performance was similar to the 3200's for feel. however, you can feel the extra weight starting to kick in now as it's not quite as crisp in the pitch stops as the 3200 5s. again 4.30 was all i went as i don't know how long i could get and these packs were new. the first flight they were not as good as the 3200 6s but i had 2 more flights with them and they are bedding in as the last flight was a little better than the 6s option. these packs in 6s guise are at the edge of the weight i would like for the MAH return altough they seem to be good packs and they came off really cool at all times.
4200-now we are talking, these cells just seem to be spot on for this heli. they hold the HS amazingly well and EASILY outperform any 6s i have tried (quite a lot now). the weight we have managed to sort out as the packs will fit on the top tray with the canopy post moved or you can put one up and one down if you don't want to drill 2 holes and move the posts. this 4200 5s 16t combo is THE best pack i have flown and it has the best performance by quite a margin. couple of reasons are the pack is lighter than what we have been used to and the weight is high up so rolls again are sweet. also you get that pitch crispness i like as we have the C rating to use the jabs of pitch/power to make it stop sharper, this combined with the weight reduction of 70g ish is very noticable. the HS is also a little higher with these than the 3300's but the 3300's are getting better with cycles so those are still a great option. i got 6 minutes out of this setup and put 2500mah's back in so there is plenty of the pack left but i get bored after 6 mins so i stop and the power drops off a little there so instead of eeking another 1.30mins from it i just land and save the 15 mins extra charging it.
btw barney/ian, thks for coming, hope had a good day.

I hear they have done a lipo test feature.
I dont subscribe to that mag as it's not on general sale round here in the sticks but wondered if anyone could tell me what lipo they are recomending for the 500.

hey Paul, glad you like the 5S 4200 16T, it's my choice for the time being until something comes out in the 6S 2800-3000 range, then I may have another little scout again to see if 6S is worth doing. However for now the 5S 4200s are the beasty for me
By the way a few more runs and the 3300s really come on song, they just need a little time to get going. There's not that much difference flying wise on mine now, except flight time of course. The 4200's go an extra minute or so. I do notice that the 4200s drop off a little earlier than the 3300s, that's 'C' ratings for you. 18C vs 22C, the 22C is bound to hold constant for longer into the pack.Last edited by Ashley Davis; 10-02-2008, 09:17 PM.
